I have mirena coil. It takes time to settle in and the bleeding can be part of it. It is hormones. I don't know if it's related to hypo/hashimotos. This is my 3rd one and due replacement next year. I never stopped bleeding with it, but a lot lighter and not consistant. I started taking zinc and selenium as advised by doc along with my 100mcg thyroxine and I also take b12 and feel a lot more normal now than before. I'm actually overdue a period according to a tracker i have, usual pre period symptoms but no period. Give it time.
It sounds like common side effects of the early days of having it fitted, which should ease with time. The PIL details them, and also when it is advisable to see your Dr if things worsen. medicines.org.uk/emc/files/...
I had my mirena coil put in 10 months ago and have still had periods except they've been lighter, but although not heavy I have just had a period for almost a month? Has this ever happened to you or anyone here?
I had a a copper coil before this, but when I had to have my ovaries scanned the nurse scanning told me it wasn't in the right place. The Dr I saw advised me to have the mirena coil, has anyone else had any problems with long periods even if light? If I can feel the strings does that mean its where it should be?!
I saw the nurse who said my strings were where they should be but my cervix was quite low.
Should my periods have settled by now? Any advise greatfully received.
