Hello, I had a complete thyroidectomy seven years ago. And used to buy naturethroid here in the US but availability is unreliable.. My doctor put me on levothyroxine and I feel miserable. Can someone please send me a link or give me information about buying natural dessicated Pig thyroid from the UK, or even Mexico. Thank you very much.

You won't get it from the UK I'm afraid. Have you looked into Thai NDT? Stop the thyroid madness website has information on different brands and if you Google them you should get info on where to buy.

There has been difficulties with Naturethroid which are apparently now resolving, but in any case, why did you simply not swap to one of the other licensed US NDTs, rather than change to Levo, such as Armour? We don't have UK-licensed NDT, and have to somehow access US or Thai products. I could be wrong, but I'm not aware of NDT from Mexico although it is a source of T3. One of the sources here, for US NDTs is a US company that is permitted only to sell outside the US, so it's of no use to you, but I mention it because they currently report shortages as follows: Armour - no shortage; Naturethroid - all strengths available except 1.5 grain; NP - no shortage; Westthroid - not currently in production; WP - 1 grain currently in production. I'm assuming their website is up to date so it should be possible for you to be dispensed one or other of the US brands without resorting to either Levo or trying to import from outside the US.

As others have mentioned, I am pretty sure that there are no Mexican or UK sources for NDT. Here in the states, Naturethroid users have had to change to Armour or NP when Naturethroid became unavailable due to mfg changes by RLC Labs. Have you tried some of the other brands locally? The GoodRX.com website gives local drugstore prices and coupons for some if affordability is a problem. You are now on T4 only and if your liver isn't doing the conversion to T3, no wonder you are feeling miserable. Get with your doctor .... the one who first prescribed Naturethroid..... and ask him/her to write you a new script for either Armour or NP (NP is less expensive). See how you do.

I have sent you a private message (I think----- I'm new to this game) with a link you may find helpful.

I am in the US, and although other NDTs can be a bit more expensive, they are available. If you use Goodrx (and some others) app on your device, you can get scripts filled at reasonable prices; usually not much more than a co-pay, and sometimes less. I would try NP by Acella, as a next best bet.

I would like to echo what others have said, get a prescription for Armor NDT. Its made in the US and is pretty much the gold standard of NDTs. It's a bit expensive but just give up something so that you can afford it. I gave up a lot of wine - not wine altogether but just cut back a lot. 6 bottles of wine = Armour for three months. Even giving up Starbucks would do it, just put a couple of $6's into a pot each day instead of buying coffee and you will be able to afford to get your normal health back.
