Response to complaint from hospital who won't see my wife who has Hashi's diagnosed. Help!

We have just received a letter from The Norwich Hospital and the well known Doctor there who is anti T3 who has stated " elevated autoantibodies are are complete red herring" in thyroid disease and seems obsessed on maintaining TSH in NR as opposed to monitoring T3 & T4 which in my wife's case are 13% NR and 53% NR respectively. He's suggesting she has subclinical hyperthyroidism which seems mad given she has no energy and sleeps a lot and can't do anything.

I'd post the letter with the Drs name redacted but can't cut it from the email. Can someone contact me with an email address so that I can send it on to someone who can cast an eye over it.

We are completely flummoxed because a Private Consultant has diagnosed hashi's and perhaps some other process. Helen is trailed steroids andd that improved things to the levels above. Tara J and Seaside Susie are aware of my wife's issues and I have sent a copy to Tara via Messenger.

Just supports my experiences about the insanely wide margins in opinions. Why so many of us are stuck in a rut. My original GP (who I ditched) insisted my TSH was fine and spent 3 months doing other tests when I was on T4 only, at god knows what cost looking for something else! I was house bound then T3 helped but I am still learning,....all these people here cannot be wrong!

You could print off a copy of the letter, cut/scribble out the Dr's details, take a photo of the edited version, and upload that. You'd still have the original letter attached to the email.

Which is why we always suggest getting the list of recommended thyroid specialists from Dionne at Thyroid Uk

please email Dionne

tukadmin@thyroiduk.org

Personally I think we also ought to have a "do not see under any circumstances" list of medics too! But that might be rather controversial.....sounds like you had a prime candidate to put on such a list

A well known doctor at the N&N. Notorious.

Hello SlowDragon, I did see a private endo who is listed on Dionne's list (actually it was on Louise's list back then in 2017). He did not prescribe T3 and said I was suffering from CFS! Useless. His fees were the most expensive I had paid to a consultant privately. Unfortunately, he's the only so-called "thyroid-friendly" endo in my area. He actually covers a large area. So I feel there is no help really.

You can copy and paste the relevant information from an email without disclosing the name. Just point the mouse at the text, and highlight the info you want, then right click and choose copy, then right click in post and select paste.

Hope that helps.

Open the letter, zoom in on the text, and take a screen shot (press the PrtScn button, which is on the row with the the F keys at the top), then paste it into Paint and cut out any sensitive information. When you "save as", select .jpg from the bottom drop down menu.

If you already know how to do this, I'm sorry for the step by step, but thought it's better to give too much help than too little!

Then press command, shift and 3 at the same time.

Or stuff it in Word and put a text box over anything you dont want shown. It just whites it out. Or highlight the text you dont want and turn the colour print to white.

I am so sorry your wife is going through this. You could think of doing what many of us here do and just buy privately and see how it goes. Good luck.

Might be completely wrong and out there (so to speak) on this one but what about a referral to immunology?

Her immune system obviously at odds with itself over something...they do lots of auto immune tests and might be able to push something along? Just a thought if you’re not getting anywhere with endo??

I know endo and immunology are totally different but there are links between auto immune disorders (such as thyroid, eczema, asthma etc..)???

As I say just a thought if you’re struggling
