Hi , I currently take 175mg of Levothyroxine, but I would like to ask if someone knows of a reputable online chemist who dispenses Liothyronine 20 or 25 mg at an affordable price , I don’t have a prescription. Many Thanks.

A prescription is required in the UK, no reputable chemist will dispense T3 without one.

As there is no information in your profile, if you would like to share some information about your thyroid journey and post your latest results, including the reference ranges, then we may be able to help. We get many new members asking about T3 and when we see test results we often identify a problem that can be addressed and T3 isn't necessarily the answer .

For a full picture we need to see results for

TSH

FT4

FT3

Thyroid antibodies

And because nutrient levels need to be optimal for thyroid hormone to work properly, and before considering the addition of T3, then it's essential to also test

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

What are we to do if our doctors are part of a corrupt system where we are not always told what is really healthy for us and prescribed medicines such as statins and vaccines that kill us?

We take control, research and refuse anything we consider is detremental to our well being.

If you wish to start a thread to discuss this, please feel free. You have taken Angela's thread off topic.

Hi Susie ,my recent test results are TSH 16.39 Free T4 20. These are the only blood test results listed on my GP’s records after my last blood tests. Am I able to request that my GP do a more thorough test , as you have listed above? Regards Angela

Were there any reference ranges with those results, eg TSH 2.5 (0.2-4.2).

Your TSH is very high and very unusual for someone on 175mcg Levo, yet your FT4 is possibly fairly high in range. They are so unusual that I would have thought your GP would have wanted to retest.

Your GP could do most of those tests, if he wanted to, not all will though because they think TSH is the only important test. Sometimes the lab refuse to do the tests requested. It may be worth pointing out to your GP that with 175mcg Levo your TSH should at least be in range, certainly not so high, and would he retest to make sure there has been no lab error, then ask about the others to be done at the same time.

Your GP may not be able to get FT3 or thyroid antibodies tested. Possibly also not Vit D.

You can always do a private test with one of our recommended labs if your GP can't get them all done. Here are two labs and the tests linked to include everything I have listed above

Medichecks Thyroid Check Ultravit medichecks.com/thyroid-func... and code THYROIDUK gives 10% discount on any test not on special offer.

Blue Horizon Thyroid Check Plus Eleven bluehorizonmedicals.co.uk/t...

Both companies are equally good, both do those tests by fingerprick or venous blood draw if preferred (extra cost for that).

Do you take any supplements, in particular Biotin (B7) or a B Complex containing Biotin. Taking Biotin can give false blood test results so we have to leave it off for 3-5 days before any tests.

At present you can't consider adding T3, TSH needs to be down to around 1 to see what T4 to T3 conversion is like, and as mentioned nutrient levels should be optimal.

Thank you very much for this, it is really helpful. I am due an annual health Check in a few weeks and I will ask for retest , and see if the other tests are possible. Looking back to when I was first diagnosed in 2011 , initially I have lab results for all you have suggested except for FT3 and Vitamin D. These results stopped when my TSH results were first in range. I will look into the private test and post my results, again thank you . Angela
