I was on 3 grains in the summer maybe 3 1/4. Last batch of naturethroid very weak so I worked my way up to 4 grains. Opted to buy Thai TR Man and I’m now up to 4.5 grains. Is it normal? I’m only about 56kg and most definitely not overdoing it (it’s 8.30 and I could fall asleep right now. 😀. What’s an average dose? Does it mean my thyroid is failing or is it just a blip??

Anyone else find the Thai NDT a tad weak?
Hello Jodypody,
I am also taking this brand, however this is my first time taking NDT so I have nothing to compare it to, so far doing pretty good. According to a source, here is the information for TR man thyroid: Natural Desiccated Thyroid (NDT)
Each tablet contains: 60 mg. Thyroid Extract (1 Tablet = 60mg = 1 grain)
(1 Bottle contains 1000 Tablets)
Source of extract: Porcine
Each tablet contains: 38 mcg of Levothyroxine (T4) and 9 mcg of Liothyronine (T3)
I'm not sure how much naturethroid has in its tablets to you might want to compare and see if it contains more thyroid hormone than this. It is also possible that you may need more of this due to the changing weather (we need more thyroid hormone during winter months). Hope this helps in any way.
No, in fact, I have found all three brands of Thai NDT (Thyroid-S, TR, Thiroyd) to be quite potent. Thyroid-S and TR contain the same amount of T3 and T4 per grain as Naturethroid.
Unlike Naturethroid, TR does not contain cellulose, nor does it contain lactose, both of which are said to decrease the absorption of thyroid hormone.
Could you try one of the other Thai brands and see if it works better for you?
Maybe I just need more. T.R. Man has less fillers so would probably be the best
I also went down hill on Nature Throid so stopped. Tried Thiroyd and felt more awake and normal after 1 tablet, but could not tolerate it so quickley stopped. Now just started Thyroid S and felt better more awake on taking first tablet. Now on day 4 and feel more normal already. So yes sounds odd to me too.
Well I’ve just checked and I’ve put on nearly a stone in weight too. Gutted
I think you need to get your blood tested and see what your lab results are saying. I switched from NT to Thai thiroyd (straight swap, 4.5 grains NT to 4.5 Thai thiroyd) as NT stopped working and I'm doing fine so far (been around 6 months now). Last tests a few months ago showed my t3 was on it's way back up and I'm due a thyroid review in a couple of weeks so will see if I'm back to where I should be.
Yes definitely. There was someone else I spoke to recently who’d had to take similar jump from 3 to 4.5 but I can’t remember who it was
