First Endo meeting - Results in

It only took 10 weeks (to the day) to receive the letter from the endo after my referral to him. 10 weeks for feedback! Atrocious really.

I was referred to rule out Addisons, which he did at the time, and he has now ruled out Cushings.

The letter bangs on about my blood pressure and cholesterol and my weight. Despite all I told him about how exhausted I am and how physically depleted he simply says I must loose weight by reducing calories and increasing exercise. He makes numerous references to my weight and mentions statins twice.

The thyroid blood test he took was early afternoon, so irrelevant to me as I ensure mine are always early morning etc. It came back with a TSH of 2, but it would have been higher in the morning.

I feel now that I really am on my own. I am stuck in this nightmare of menopause hell with added thyroid problems with just my own gumption and the help of groups like this one and my private HRT specialist. It's a sad position to find yourself in.

Meanwhile, I have started to add in some T3 and really noticed a difference at first. As usual though, that's slipped back down again now. I am hopeful that it might actually be the difference I need though, given time.

I'd like to see these doctors walk a day in my shoes. I doubt they would be so keen to pick on my weight and lack of exercise so much then.

I should have said I got myself on BP medication immediately after the hospital visit. That resulted in a GP trying to push statins on me and a blood thinner!

I have no intention of ever taking a statin. I'm starting to dread doctors.

Presumably these test results were from before starting on T3?

TSH was far too high at 2

What other tests were done?

New NHS England Liothyronine guidelines November 2018 clearly state on pages 8 & 12 that TSH should be between 0.4-1.5

Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12.

Yes they were before I started T3. I'm not looking for advice with this post. Just sharing the frustrations of feeling so alone with it (apart from the tremendous help available here).

I am ignoring the results of the Endo's test completely as it was much too late in the day. I have 4 weeks to wait now until I test myself again. I will run the full profile at that point, including the vitamin and minerals that Blue Horizon include with their full panel.

If endo thinks TSH that high is fine, they are obviously utterly clueless

He doesn't even mention my thyroid status in his letter. Just lists the test results.

Go wit SlowDragon's advice and get a full panel done. Ft4, Ft3, Tsh, Vit D, Vit B12, Ferritin, Folate. Post the results and ranges on here, and you'll get great advice. So many doctors are clueless on ranges and treatment. Good luck!

I usually do a full panel, but last time, in the run up to Christmas and the expense, I cheated and did the basic TSH, T4 and T3 finger prick test.
