Tried to explain to my Dr that Im out of range "high" for TSH 4.55 (0.27-4.2)
And Im low at a T4 of 12 (was 10.8) the bottom of range (12-22) so ideally thyroxine could help me up into the top 25% for T4 etc
He just suggested to get on the bus for a repeat with the thyroid antibodies TPO???? The nurse said I Think? TPO?
Im on my way...so busy I have not eaten today!
Have to wait til Friday or Monday for the results.
What kind of ranges in antibodies show up if I am hypothyroidism?
Im like a nervous wreck, I feel so jittery and didnt help the nurse saying T4 was now "normal " at 12...I said to her well an endocrine nurse told me its bottom of the range with a high TSH so its not functioning optimal is it? She said which Trust does she work for they are using different ranges..I said no she used the ranges I gave her.
Looks like these people are millitant in dealing with a level 10 TSH and a really really low T4, like on the floor low, a 3?
Its only a plethora of symptoms I have!!!! To which she responded it might not be thyroid related there are similar symptoms for other things..blah blah blah...
(Really love the nurses but this one of the 4 is a pain in the ass)
Thank you!
Helly.

If you ask for a print-out of your results after the test, the ranges will be on it. If your antibodies are over the top of the range, you have Hashi's.
But, having Hashi's doesn't always mean you are hypo.
And being hypo doesn't always mean you have Hashi's.
Hashi's is the most common cause of hypothyroidism, but there are other causes.
Doctors tend to just use TSH levels to diagnose and treat - they are wrong to do so, but they're also pig-headed and think they know everything. But, TSH isn't a thyroid hormone, it's a pituitary hormone. And the definition of hypothyroidism is having low thyroid hormones - FT4 and FT3.
If you had an over-range TSH. And an under-range FT4, you were hypo. But, as you've now found out, the NHS is full of sadists and they like you to have a TSH of over 10 before they will deign to diagnose. However, if you have very high antibodies, that is a point in your favour, and can precipitate a diagnosis if you also have an over-range TSH and an under-range FT4.
An FT4 of 12, where the bottom of the range is 12, is also hypo. Just because they call the range 'normal', doesn't mean it is, and anybody with an FT4 that low is going to have symptoms. You just have to stick to your guns and insist. Explain to the nurse that it is not logical to think that at 11.9 you are hypo and suddenly become 'normal' at 12. There are no sudden cut-offs like that in nature. Conditions slide into each other gradually, and the way ranges are conceived is erroneous. Just because there are people with FT4 levels of 12 doesn't mean it's 'normal' to have an FT4 of 12. Tie her up in her own knots until she doesn't know if she's coming or going! lol Might teach her to think for herself.
Yes! I did tie her up in knots when I said another specialist said my T4 is at the bottom of a range and is not optimal functioning which needs to be in the top 25%.
This particular nurse God help her she has her own issues and because I find her a bit keyed up and mouth runny, I would nornally wish not get her of the 4 nurses lol.
Cant believe how cut and dry she was saying my level 12 T4 was normal and to look at other causes for my symptoms!
She was very frazzled looking I felt sorry for her actually. I bit my lip.
