We're holding it a week early because of the Christmas festivities that tend to crop up a little later in the month! Come and join our friendly, informal group on Thursday from 7pm to 9pm at Waitrose, 2 Greenlaw Place, Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire G77 6GW for a nice hot coffee and mince pie and to have a blether, offload any problems or worries and exchange ideas about the best vitamin/mineral supplements and treatments. We will be at a table by the partition with the store side of the café (i.e. not the windows side). A small sign will be displayed on the table. If you have some Christmas shopping to do in lovely Waitrose, we will break the meeting at around 8.30 in order to do this. Hope to see you there!

West of Scotland (Glasgow) Thyroid Support Group: last meeting for this year on Thursday 6 December 2018
Is it a gf df mince pie lol?
They will actually be gluten free, yes I will procure some in the store beforehand and take them into the café area with me. Remind me what df is ...?
[Update] 'Sokay, I realised, dairy free, right? Waitrose gluten free mince pies are also without milk
Hi sailingby, I'm on the West Coast of Scotland but about 2.5 hours from Newton Mearns, I'd have loved to drop in for a wee blether and mince pie. Hope the meet up went well. I was making a wee joke because diet, and dietary caution, is such a big part of being well with Hashi's. I haven't had the Waitrose mince pies, yet, but on my recent taste test, Aldi's came up well and at £1.35 or so for a pack of 4, a total bargain too!
Yes, I have Hashi's myself and while I haven't managed to go gluten-free yet, the majority of those who come to our meetings do avoid gluten (and soy, of course). I'm sure I saw a gluten-free variety of that well known and totally addictive Scottish delicacy, the Tunnocks Snowball, so I might smuggle a pack of those into the next meeting
If Kilmarnock is "doable" for you, would you like to come to our trip to the pantomime at Kilmarnock Theatre this Thursday? Details on a previous post
Thanks SailingBy, that's really kind. Killie is even further for me unfortunately. The whole gf thing was a breeze for me as my husband is coeliac so I had been mostly gf by default for years before I figured out the whole Hashi's thing, and it really is much much easier to find suitable food and eating out than even 10 years ago. Dairy free then most recently soya free are my other two avoids (although I will eat chocolate with soya lecithin in it, gotta have some vices lol)! Give the gluten free thing a go, it really does make a difference (how gf you need to be might take a bit of tweaking, and not everyone is at the coeliac level of intolerance)
