For the past 4 years I have been extremely unwell with chronic fatigue no voice exhaustion joint pain.

I believe I should be taking t3 medication but my dr will not prescribe it as it’s too expensive. A friend has brought back from SPAIN Eutirox 25mcg they were told this is T3 medication. Can anyone help me I’m at the end of my tether with it and I just want to feel well and have my life back

Thanks

Tracey

Eutirox is not T3, it's Levothyroxine

google.co.uk/search?biw=136...

Levotiroxina Sodica = Levothyroxine Sodium

Why do you think you should be taking T3? Are you diagnosed hypothyroid and on Levo?

If you can give us some more information, members can help.

If already on Levo, can you please post your latest test results, with reference ranges (ranges vary from lab to lab). Ideally we need to see

TSH

FT4

FT3

Thyroid antibodies

and because optimal nutrient levels are necessary for thyroid hormone to work properly it's best to also test

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

Your joint pain could very well be low Vit D, fatigue can be low ferritin as well as undermedicated hypothyroidism, so worth checking all those vitamins and minerals.

Welcome to our forum Traytray123

The majority of members on this forum know exactly what you have gone through/are going through.

Before you search for an alternative I suggest you get the following from your doctor - if he refuses and will only do the routine, i.e. TSH and T4 you can get a private blood test and we have three labs who will do all of the necessary ones. They are home pin-prick tests and make sure you are well-hydrated a couple of days before blood draw. Blood draw should be at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the test and take afterwards.

The main poblem is that doctors are instructed only to take the TSH and T4 into account and both are quite meaningless if doctor believes if they are 'somewhere' within the range we're on a sufficient dose. In these 'modern' times they know no clinical symptoms and before tests and levo were introduced we were prescribed NDT (natural dessicated thyroid hormones) due to clinical symptoms and it has saved lives since 1892 and up to the present day. No blood tests then only the skill of the doctors.

Big Pharma saw a way to make money by introducing levothyroxine (T4 only) which has to convert to T3 and many of us may not do so effectivelywhich means our millions of T3 receptor cells don't have sufficient and it is T3 which enables our metabolism to function optimally.

First thing to do is test:-

TSH, T4, T3,Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies.

GP can test B12, ~Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.

Put your results on a new post for comments but remember to put the ranges too as members cannot respond without the ranges. Labs differ and so do ranges and it makes it easier to respond.

The main problem in these 'modern times' is that doctors know no clinical symptoms at all, so if we complain - instead of looking at a FT4 and FT3 they will prescribe for the 'symptom' which could be well due to not being on an optimum dose.

Blue Horizon, Medichecks and Thriva are the labs.

Thank you so much for the advice I will get the private testing done as my dr are so unhelpful they won’t do any other tests. I’ve been unwell for so long now I have this awful hoarseness for weeks at a time. I will do the tests at home and see what the results are and post them for further help xx

150 mcg levo was the dose I was on too and it wasn't enough for me either. If you post your latest blood results as has been suggested you're likely to get more specific help x

Can I ask why you had hemithyroidectomy? I had similar surgery. After testing bloods, I supplemented and made other adjustments which has helped. I only take around 100mcg levo and have never taken T3.
