Hi all, :-)

My chest feels really tight & I have palpitations, like my heart is racey! I almost feel like I am having an anxiety attack or just feel really odd.... Is this all normal symptoms for an under active thyroid?

I cant wait for my next blood test on Monday to see what's happening!

Best J

How fast is your heart going?

Check your pulse. If you don't have a pulseoximeter or blood pressure machine in your home, use a second hand on a clock and count your pulse for 30 seconds then double it.

Normal pulse is 60-100. Anything over 120 you should ring out of hours doctor, or 111.

Sometimes we’re really sensitive to the increase in thyroid hormones that happens when we start Levo. Either this, or your thyroid is now producing even less than it was due to your pituitary detecting your Levo. It’s a bit tricky at first but you’ll feel better as your thyroid hormone levels become optimal for you.

How long will it take before I start to feel well? I have been off work a month already

I don’t know, sorry. It’s probably advisable to try to avoid going back to work too early. Once optimal you’ll be back in no time x

You really should get yourself checked. Too much levo can effect your heart. Or you may be developing Atrial Fibrillation which can give you a risk of stroke. Not trying to scare but more make you see that you shouldn't ignore it.
