TSH and T4 levels

Hi There, I have Congenital Hypo, but have been struggling along at the lower end of normal for some time, I have finally asked to see an Endo at hospital for which my appointment is on Thursday so....I asked my own GP to do bloods so that I could take results with me for him to look at, and what do you know when I've gone to collect them this morning my levels are saying abnormal. so, just need a little clarification on these results and I know some of you are great at interpreting them. my TSH is 20.1 which it says the normal range is 0.4 - 4.90, and my T4 is 6.5 where it should be between 9 - 19.00. so overall does this make me under treated?

Yes you are extremely undertreated with a TSH above 20. Good luck on Thursday

Your doctors should be ashamed of themselves. You are vastly under-medicated. If you were properly medicated so that you actually felt well your TSH would be around 1 or lower, and your Free T4 would probably be around 16 - 18.

Thank you, I thought so, but just wanted to be sure of facts. last bloods I had done were only 4 months ago, and they were in range. glad Ive pushed for Endo though. just hopefully he wont turn out to be useless.

Good luck with the endo. I hope you have a good one. I would definitely make another appointment with your doctor to find out why they haven’t been treating you as they should though.
