Starting again on Levothyroxine with T3

Hi

Well I’ve had a hellish few months with regards my health and can’t seem to improve.

It’s been declining and I feel hopeless that I’m unable to control the situation.

Just a bit of background information

Diagnosed with Hashimoto’s by private Endocrinologist, said no thyroid medication would help.

Basically left to get worse, NHS stepped in when My TSH reached 12.2.

Took Levothyroxine with increases every 6 weeks by 25mcg and blood tests like clockwork.

Blood results looked good, but, Never felt good on Levothyroxine and got to 125mcg of Levothyroxine. No matter what dosage I was on, I felt terrible. It all come to ahead when I started to develop awful neck stiffness and pain on top of my other symptoms.

Decided to stop Levo altogether and start on T3 alone.

I was doing ok, not great and I got to 37.5mcg of T3 taken it a different times of the day. When ever I tried to increase my body didn’t like it, so never got pass 37.5mcg.

When I started T3 my neck pain/stiffness went, it was fantastic.

However, I’m back with awful neck stiffness, blocked ears and headaches.

I’ve been to A&E twice now as the pain and headaches were so intense and painful. Given antibiotics first visit, told I had an ear infection.

Second time the pain in my head was terrible and neck stiffness and apparently I was slurring my words.

MRI taken which was clear, bloods clear and ENT said nothing wrong with my ears. Said I needed a lumbar puncture, incase they couldn’t see a bleed on the brain. Then two consultants come back and say not necessary sent me home with strong pain killers for muscle pain and I have an outpatient appointment for an MRI on my neck.

Since this I haven’t improved at all, I’ve had acupuncture as well and this did give me slight relief.

I stopped my T3 over a week ago as well. I noticed every time I took my T3 my neck pain got more intense.

I’ve been to my GP and she hasn’t got an answer on my neck issues, but gave me a lecture when she noticed I hadn’t been for Levothyroxine.

I didn’t tell her I was self medicating T3.

Anyway, I’ve just sent my bloods off checking my TSH, T3 & T4 but I desperately need to start thyroid medication again.

I’m freezing cold, I have trouble stringing a sentence together, I’m a emotional wreck, and I just feel like I don’t care anymore.

I’m going to see another private Endocrinologist, but can’t see him until December.

Should I start on 50mcg of Levothyroxine In the morning and add 6.25mcg of T3 lunch time?, or add more T3?

Any suggestions please.

Best Wishes
