Check-Up Testing

When having your regular thyroid check-ups, does your GP test TSH, T4 and T3?

Mine will only check my TSH levels unless I am showing any symptoms, then will then only check TSH and T4, never T3.

The lab that does my GP tests always does TSH, FT4 and FT3 when I have a test. Purely because my TSH is always suppressed, much to the disgust of my GP. They used to do TSH plus FT4 as standard. I don't know what is standard now though.

Yes, just found out I have been over-medicated for months because they checked my T4 level. Going to get a full thyroid test done privately when the doctors have stabilised me a bit more.

I have congenital hypothyroidism so been plagued with this for many years. Just fed up that I feel lousy yet again.

My TSH was 0.05, my T4 was 29.8.

I will wait 6 weeks until the 125mg I am now on levels out then pay for the private test. I think it’s about £60, a small pittance to pay for the chance of feeling well one day! Thanks Reallyfedup123 😊

You may be onto something here. Managed to locate the last TFT I had that included FT3 and my results were as follows:

T4 27.900

T3 5.500

TSH 0.680

This test was done on 26 January 2017, so nearly 2 years ago. I know they did not change my Thyroxine level after this as I was put up to 150mcg Thyroxine when I became pregnant in April 2014 and it has only just been altered. I reckon I have been walking around poisoned for months now and my body has just finally had enough!
