Weight loss is difficult unless optimally medicated.
What are your latest test results? If you don't have them, and you live in the UK, ask at your surgery's reception desk for a print out, it's our legal right to have our results. Once you have them, post on the forum, including the reference ranges, and members can comment.
You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges.
UK GP practices are supposed to offer online access for blood test results. Ring and ask if this is available and apply to do so if possible, if it is you may need enhanced access to see blood results.
In reality many GP surgeries do not have blood test results online yet
Alternatively ring receptionist and request printed copies of results. Allow couple of days and then go and pick up. They can no longer charge for printing out, rules changed after May 25th 2018
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. When on Levothyroxine, take last dose 24 hours prior to test, and take next dose straight after test. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)
Do get your results and post them here for good help. Experienced people like administrators, SeasideSusie and SlowDragon will help you sort it out but we need your results to make sense of what is happening. Don't give up, you can get lots of help here.
Intermittent fasting has been working for me. It's the only way I've been able to lose weight, and believe me I've tried everything. IF is also supposed to be helpful for osteoarthritis.
I faced the same issue and went to a nutritionist and she was so helpful. I helped me understand the carbs and I am limited to 130 gr carbs a day and I stay away from Gluten entirely. It’s definitely not easy but with the proper dosage of Tirosint and a life changing diet of no Gluten and 130 grams of carbs, I have lost 30 lbs in 90 days and feel so much better. It’s not easy to give up foods I love, but once I did it I was inspired and now it’s just a way of life for me. I do feel your upset and frustration though. Good luck
I been overweight and i take a higher dosage of thyroxine than you.. the best way to lose weight is to count calories, its basically not what you eat its how many calories per day.. I lost 4 stone on a diet and i was so good... Not like me !! lol..
