You could ask your doctor about the Vitamin D insufficiency result - should have prescribed Vitamin D (colecalciferol D3) supplement daily maintenance dose. This could be 800 IU or possibly more. Look up NICE guidance for treatment of Vitamin D insufficiency.
Ideally you should have Thyroid Antibodies blood tests to eliminate or confirm Autoimmune Thyroiditis (Hashimoto's disease ). Ask for TPO (Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies ) and Tg (Thyroglobulin ) to be tested at least. Also ask about other nutrients tests. Do you have symptoms?
Yes I do, when it comes to symptoms, feeling like something is there in the middle of my throat, random high pressure or heart rate goes crazy sometimes with no obvious reason, tension not to mention, that's all no more symptoms I suffer than those I mentioned, thank you you give me a good push to hope for the best xxx
TPO - TG - TaAB - FT3 - FT4 as other nutrients tests vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at the end of this month, do you think it's possible or me with such results to hold tight still to the end o the month, or should I find a way to do them privately those days urgently! I'm a bit afraid not a bit to the death of mine, I just do not wanna go for this challenge
It's good that you are having these Antibodies tested soon. Then you will know if you have Hashimoto's Autoimmune Thyroiditis.
With Hashimoto's the regular Thyroid Function blood tests results can fluctuate (and fall within normal range). But you have a HIGH (above range and above 10 result) for TSH. However your T4 result is good - over mid-range.
You could also enquire about having an Ultrasound scan of your Thyroid and Parathyroids.
You already have a diagnosis of Vitamin D insufficiency.
It's good that you're having the other nutrients tested. You could ask if Calcium and Phosphorus can be tested at the same time.
I would wait till next tests at end of month.
Do you have any other symptoms?
Look on the Thyroid UK website and search "Underactive Thyroid symptoms " see how many you have. Make a list to show doctor or print the list and tick what you have.
I would definitely ask the doctor for the Ultrasound scan of your Thyroid. But if you have no other symptoms maybe ask for a referal to ENT Consultant with regards to throat problem?
One of the worse things we can do is Google search symptoms!
It's different if you have an actual diagnosis and / or some specific test result ALSO some knowledge - you may perhaps discover recommended dietary / exercise/ lifestyle changes which could help reduce your symptoms.
Otherwise it is dangerous and not recommended for a person to Google symptoms. Although it may help sometimes - in your case it has had the negative affect of you being afraid to tell doctor about throat & swallowing problems.
I have numerous throat conditions - some caused by stomach acid due to Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (known as silent reflux). Some causes by spine condition. Also have benign cyst on Thyroid and small benign growth on parathyroid.
There are numerous benign conditions - many treatable. Worrying about cancer doesn't help. Stress itself can cause illness.
Swallowing problems and weight loss are 2 symptoms you didn't mention earlier.
I would see the doctor about throat & swallowing problems also weight loss.
In our ENT clinic the specialist can see a lot just by looking into your throat through a scope. I had a satisfactory diagnosis and treatment for a condition on a first ENT visit.
About weight loss - have you been monitoring this?
Take any record you made of weight and show doctor. He/she should weigh you and monitor this now.
We have a good machine in Boots Chemist. For £1 you get a print out with date; weight; height; BMI; and Body Fat %.
But just a note of approximate weight loss will help. And how long you have been losing weight.
Keep a weekly or fortnightly record from now.
Some people gain weight through worry.
But some people actually lose weight due to worrying.
I looked back and see I replied to you 3 days ago.
You are seeing your doctor today?
I would stress the throat and swallowing symptoms and ask if you can be referred to ENT or Endocrinologist or even both!
You should also ask for Vitamin D prescription for treatment for VitD insufficiency.
You could also ask for the calcium and Phosphorus blood tests to be done at the same time as others.
I did mention on your last post a suggestion to ask for testing to eliminate Coeliac Disease . Do you have any digestive or bowel problems (other than Swallowing) ? Mention these to doctor also.
It helps to make a written list of all symptoms to take to appointment.
While you were writing the last comment I were on the phone, the whole appointment is delay to Sat 10:00 am, yes yes ma'am I really madly appreciate each replay of yours.. Wish me luck I'll post an update once it gets diagnosed, n yes I'll get those tests done by the end of next week due to my budget limitation, and yes even if it was a tough battle I'll be the knight who fight till the end of it much much much appreciated ma'am xx have a lovely wonderful day free spirit
I think it helps to share any worries, anxieties or fears of diagnosis on here. Then, when with doctor fully armed and prepared with list of symptoms & requests ( for referal, scans, tests etc ) can calmly, firmly, but politely make our concerns known.
Hope you succeed in getting diagnosis.
All the best with next doctor appointment.
And do please update on here. Remember to say it is an update and make reference to previous posts. 🐥
