Thyroid??

Hello,

I have neck stiffness, shooting pains up my neck, chest discomfort, at times it’s difficult to get a proper breath, I drink a lot of water but I don’t urinate half as much as I should, my family have told me that I’m freezing when they touch me, constipation, depressed, hot flashes, hot sweats with rapid heartbeat and bodily exhaustion and discomfort, and my thyroid is solid when touched, what does this tell you? I have had my TSH and T4 tested and they were normal....

Have you had your thyroid antibodies tested yet, as advised in previous posts?

You need a full thyroid panel to include

TSH

FT4

FT3

Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) antibodies

Thyroglobulin (TG) antibodies

Once we see all those results, from testing at the same time, we may be able to help.

All of the symptoms sound like severe hypothyroidism to me, and if your thyroid is hard there must be something going on. I'm surprised you aren't in hospital!

Does the breathlessness come on rather suddenly, no wheezing, just as if breathing is really hard work? I started having that very occasionally (maybe only a few times a year) several years ago, but much more often this year as one of the hypothyroid symptoms, so it was probably already coming on.

At first I thought it was asthma, having had that as a child. I was given a salbutamol pump but it had no effect and there was little or no wheezing.

"I drink a lot of water but I don’t urinate half as much as I should", and an irregular heartbeat are quite serious symptoms if allowed to go on. You need to get treatment urgently, whether TSH and T4 are "Normal" or not.

Hello thanks for the reply, the breathlessness comes a few times a day and when it does my heartbeat goes fast and my body gives out. I have to hold onto something at times. And there is no wheezing, just hard to get a proper breath, my chest feels tight like there is something on it, and when I drink water I can feel it rushing down my neck and I get shooting pains up the neck...

See the doctor asap or you could likely end up in hospital with a heart attack or something!

Quite likely the low production of urine is also a sign your heart is affected - go to casualty if you have to
