I have read Seaside Susie's post on the different types of B12 which was really informative. Can anyone recommend a brand of B12 methylcobalamin ideally with folate and B6 please? Thought I would start with that and see how it goes. Many thanks.

if your B12 result was below 500 then I would suggest taking B12 alone. Jarrow Methylcobalamin from Amazon. I would then add a GOOD B Complex - I take Thorne. I had my Terminal Ileum removed at 27 - now reverse the numbers ! - where B12 is metabolised for its journey back to the liver.

As Marz says, if your B12 is below 500 pg/ml then you could supplement a separate B12 for a while alongside a B complex.
According to an extract from the book, "Could it be B12?" by Sally M. Pacholok:
"We believe that the 'normal' serum B12 threshold needs to be raised from 200 pg/ml to at least 450 pg/ml because deficiencies begin to appear in the cerebrospinal fluid below 550".
"For brain and nervous system health and prevention of disease in older adults, serum B12 levels should be maintained near or above 1000 pg/ml."
If your result is in pmol/L then to convert from pmol/L to pg/ml multiply by 1.355
I like Thorne Basic B Complex which has 400mcg methylfolate , 400mcg methylcobalamin and 10mg B6 (recommended amount) per 1 capsule.
Igennus Super B Complex has 400mcg methylfolate, 900mcg methylcobalamin and 20mg B6 (more than the recommended amount) per 2 tablets.
If you need a separate B12 due to low level, I like this one cytoplan.co.uk/vitamin-b12-... and it has both methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin, of which they say:
•Both methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin are essential to providing coenzyme or active b12 to different parts of the tissue
•Both forms of b12 are often used together as team players
•Methylcobalamin is optimally bioeffective
•Adenosylcobalamin plays a role in mitochondria, methylation tolerance, myelin formation, and neurological function and is often lacking in the diet
