What is wrong

Hey everyone,

I am a healthy weight 20 year old. I have been having servere high blood pressure around 185/100. I am now on 3 blood pressure medications. My dr said this is due to a rare syndrome called Liddle syndrome. Recently my eyelashes are falling out and my hair is coming out in clumps. I haven’t had a menstral cycle in about 4 months. My Tsh came back at 0.757 and my t4 free came back at 0.8. I wasn’t concerned until my hair started falling out and my menstral cycle had always been normal before. I’m trying to get into an endocrinologist but my doctor won’t send me a referral since they say my thyroid seemed okay. Can anyone relate or give me advice?? I’m kinda scared and I’m tired of feeling so bad all the time? I also have low potassium, low renin, low aldsoestone. Thanks everyone.

To be able to help, we need reference ranges with your test results. Ranges vary from lab to lab so without the ranges from the lab that did your tests we can't interpret the results. Ideally, for a full picture, we need to see

TSH

Free T4

Free T3

Thyroid antibodies

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

I'm sorry you've been dealt this hand at this stage in your life. Your treatment is aimed at keeping you alive and there'll be health aspects and drug side effects which may be treated as secondary concerns, for the time being at least.

Amiloride (if you're not already on it) should help with your hypertension and improve your potassium level. When my potassium level drops too low I wake with leg cramps and am more fatigued, but if I take too much amiloride my walking becomes a problem.

Your hair loss may be due to taking a beta blocker or statin. You may need to wear sunglasses if you're not a wearer of spectacles, to protect your eyes.

On what does your doctor base his diagnosis of Liddle Syndrome?

We really need the range for that FT4. It looks low, but can't tell without the range. What your doctor doesn't know is that it is possible to be hypo with a low TSH. But, we would need more information. :)

Hi! Sorry for my lack of more info lol. So the kidney dr said it was liddle syndrome due to my low aldosterone, low renin, low potassium, and resiant and high blood pressure. I currently take Amiloride twice a day metoprolol succ. And doxazosin. I have only had my tsh and t4 drawn in the er no other labs related to thyroid or vitamins have been drawn. Now I’ve been on these medications for months now and the last week my hair and lashes started coming out. My blood pressure is high again 150/90 and I’m on 3 medications. My headaches are back to the point of vomiting. Let me give you the ref for the labs TSH was 0.358- 3.740

T4 was 0.8-1.8

Also period was always regular and just stopped no new medications or changes.
