Cortisol and B12 result.

Hi. I have been on NDT for the last 2 years. I was on Levo before that for 2 years ( diagnosed secondary hypothyroidism in 2014.)

These are my fasting 9 a.m. results.

B12: 375.0 Ng/L (211.0 - 911.0)

Cortisol: 411 nmol/L

Are they suboptimal? My endo has come back and said they are fine. I'm not so sure. I would really appreciate some advice.

Thank you.

You also need folate, ferritin and vitamin D tested

Folate and B12 work together. B12 is on low side

Folate: 7.54 ug/L (>5.38)

I don't have Ferritin nor Vitamin D.

According to an extract from the book, "Could it be B12?" by Sally M. Pacholok:

"We believe that the 'normal' serum B12 threshold needs to be raised from 200 pg/ml to at least 450 pg/ml because deficiencies begin to appear in the cerebrospinal fluid below 550".

"For brain and nervous system health and prevention of disease in older adults, serum B12 levels should be maintained near or above 1000 pg/ml."

Endo says fine purely because it's within range.

I can't help with cortisol result.

Your cortisol level is fine.

I try to never visit the doctors and certainly never go to an endo I just medicate myself and have a private blood test done I have lowered my stress levels now to virtually zero. With no thyroid and just help on this site I am well again,

Thank you so much to everyone who has posted. I very much appreciate the time you've taken out to respond.

From everything I've read on here and the links from here, I do suspect that B12 is not optimal. I'll do some more reading on the Cortisol.

Is it worth me getting a saliva test done privately? My energy for the last few months has been pants! The NDT was raised a fortnight ago as they were below base line. How long before that kicks in?
