Horrible joint pain

Hi, I had a partial thyroidectomy a couple months ago and was initially on levothyroxine. Recently I was switched to NP Thyroid which has both T4 and T3. I feel like this is helping me feel like myself again all except the joint pain. Somedays it feels so bad I don't want to do anything. Has anyone else had this? Any recommendations on what I can do to help relieve the pain?

It would be worth getting your Vit D tested, joint pains can be caused by low Vit D.

Plus vitamin B12, folate and ferritin too

You need full Thyroid testing 6-8 weeks after changing to NDT

Just vitamin D test

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies and also very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. When on Levothyroxine, don't take in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after test. If also on T3 or NDT make sure to take last dose 12 hours prior to test.

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 accurate T3 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

I have been fiddling around with my dose for some months now and taking vitamins, and I noticed that gradually all my joints began to ache until I believed I would end up using a cane or even have to get a scooter to go anywhere. Then I thought, maybe this pain is not a direct link to my thyroid condition, and decided to get physical therapy focusing on my knees. What an amazing difference in my joints in only two sessions, and I have several more sessions ahead. I see that not everything is related directly with what dose of hormone or vitamin we take, but it can be how we are actually using our bodies. I was told to walk 30 minutes a day and do special exercises designed for my particular condition. Some times we shut down when in pain or discomfort and it can be the exact opposite of what we need. Also drinking more water has helped to lubricate my joints. Good luck with your pursuit of health. Just wanted to share my recent experience.
