Is drinking alcohol a problem with Hashimoto?

Just wondering if there is any official guidance on drinking with Hashis? I find that even a quite moderate amount leaves me feeling awful the next day but the idea of having to give it up completely feels a bit grim.

I totally get this!

However I’ve found I can tolerate small amounts now as my stomach heals.

Alcohol causes inflammation and only irritates an already sensitive stomach. I’ve gone totally gluten free since February (and was grain free for 3 months) and low carb. I’ve taken good probiotics and my stomach is feeling so much better.

I thought I’d have to also cut out coffee and alcohol as my stomach was so bad causing many symptoms including tremors, but now it’s improved so much!

I enjoy a glass of wine but obviously it’s very acidic. But look at your diet and make some changes and you might find you can still have a glass or two 🍷

Thank you - good to hear there’s hope. What probiotics have you used?
