It's good you are getting an infusion as your gut is unable to absorb iron it appears. Even if you take it orally you still need enough acid to break down that as well as other minerals. This is often due to inflammation. With autoimmune conditions we need to improve our microbiome which is the flora and bacteria our body needs to make the nutrients from our food. People don't seem to understand that and think vitamins magically go from our food to the bloodstream. It's actually a complicated process. Gluten can interfere with it. These are the recommended labs.
Have you had your folate and b12 checked as these can cause high MCHC? Iron deficiency causes smaller cells hence your low mean cell volume. High mchc is caused by b12and or folate deficiency, hereditary spherocytosis or hemolytic anemia (all make the measurement of the concentration of the blood cell larger) might be best to get it checked again and perhaps request a blood film to look at the cells as you could be suffering from both types of anemia (iron and b12/folate)
Seems like you are low in both of those too. Maybe speak to your doctor as looks like you could be suffering due to the decreased levels of both of those as well as the iron. Hope you get it sorted soon.
As Azure is being treated by haematology and having an iron infusion next week (as she has explained in her previous post) and she only asked for clarification of whether she has iron deficiency anaemia in this post, I have not commented further here other than what she has asked. I expect the iron infusion will increase her ferritin level and she has also been advised in the previous post about eating iron rich foods, particularly liver which will help raise her ferritin level.
Dont do it. Iron this way is a very powerful oxidant. It's damaging to internal organs. Itcan lead to something moee serious God forbid than juatvit deficiency. It's too aggressive. Take your time and build up iron naturally or if have to take vit.
