6 weeks ago I was annemic with a tsh reading of 0.261 and a t4 reading of 7.8 all my other results, b12, folate ect were in range. I was put on iron tablets x2 a day and sent away for 6 weeks with no other medication. This week I was retested. Including t3. I've just called the doctor for my results and was told that the doctor hasn't requested to see me based on my new results. My iron has gone up and my tsh is now 0.961 and my t4 is 9.7 so no further action is required as everything is now in range. I've made an appointment anyway and I'm going up first thing Monday to get a copy of my results as I'd like to see my t3 ect. But, I'm just wondering if anyone can give me any indication of what this could potentially mean?
The only thing I have done is gone gluten and soya free and take my iron tablets.
I understand it's more helpful if I provide my full results but, until i get them I'm just looking for an idea of what it could mean. I'm happy to see the increase, just a little confused. Understand if no one can help without seeing the full test results, I can wait and ask again Monday.
Thanks 😊

It is difficault to work out whats going on re blood without the range. If you are in Uk your T4 sounds low to me even if in range but hard to be sure without range. What are your symptoms and what medication has been increased? It is looking like something called central or secondary hypothyroidism but reallly need more info. Can you take yourpulse and temperature as these are a very good guide to how well medicated you are. HIf medication has been increased it may be a while before you feel any benefit and it may take quite a few increases befoe you start to feel better. Shouldbe six week before upping dose.
Thanks for your reply. Yes, im in the uk. I wasn't given any medication at all and I wasn't on any to begin with. So results have increased on their own. I'm not quite sure how to take my own pulse but I will find out and take my temp too.
Sympomtoms were extreme fatigue and heart palpitations and unable to lose weight with a little weight gain, dizzy spells too.
I see. That all makes sense your thyroid is functioning abit better for the iron you have been taking. The body needs enough iron, vit B12,vitamin D and folate to make good use of thyroid hormones. It would however be good tosee the results as within range is notalways optimal health and a lot can be done with a bit of tweeking. You are legally obliged to havea copy of your results. It might also be helpful if you had a chat with specialist nurse it pituaritary foundation. It look like you have a low TSH with hypo symptoms and have had a below range T4. TSh is a hormone produced by pituaritary, sometimes often due to something like whiplash the pituaritary stops producing enough TSH. TSH stimualtes the thyroid gland to produce its wonderful hormones but can get very lazy without TSh stimualtion. A lotof doctors think this secondary hypothyroidism is very rare but we often see it here, rarely diagnosed rather than rare. The treatmentis much the same and infact better in some ways but the pituaritary foundation can advise re good doctors to see and what to say to your doctor about this.
Were both test done early morning and fasting? If not, you can't compare them. TSH is highest early in the morning, and drops throughout the day. It also drops after eating.
