Is this a good result.

Serum TSH level 2.67 mu/L 0.30 - 4.20 mu/L

My previous was 3.36 mu/L

My ferritin needs to be tested again. In 2016 it was 30, my hair is shedding everywhere, and a few times I have noticed bald patches the size of 50p piece.

Any help would be much appreciated

The aim for TSH is 1 or lower. Many doctors are unaware of this fact and think somewhere in the range is o.k. when it isn't.

You need an increase of 25mcg of levo.

Your doctor should check your scalp as you could have Alopecia (another autoimmune condition - but I hope not).

Thanks for your quick reply. My doctor said my results were normal. I mentioned going for private thyroid tests, her comment was it would be pointless as they all go to the same lab.

Well, so what? lol What a strange remark. The point of private testing is that you can get the Frees and the antibodies and the nutrients tested, all the things that the NHS won't test. A TSH on its own is pretty useless. But a TSH of 2.67 is not 'normal' for anyone - treated or untreated. If treated, it shows that your dose is too low. If untreated, it shows that your thyroid is struggling badly. :(

Thanks greygoose. I am not on any medication for thyroid. In 2005 I suffered a stroke at the age of 34. I get fatigued easily, cold hands and feet, brain fog, weakness, I could go on and on with a whole list. If I mentioned it to the Dr they would blame it on the stroke, but I think there is more to it. If only I could wake in the morning with a spring in my step I would be happy, I feel like I'm 87 not 47.

Well, you really do need those other tests - fT4, FT3, antibodies, nutrients… I would go for the private tests, if I were you. :)

Yes, I will be going privately for further tests and will post back on this forum.
