hypothyroidism and adhd.

hi I have had hypothyroidism since birth(I am 21) and I am currently taking 150m micro grams daily. however recently I have from time been taking alternating 150 and 200 mg. I also seem to display characteristics of adhd and I took a online test the other day and got a result which indicates adhd in adults. So my question is, is there a common link between adhd and hypothyroidism? or could my Symptoms which point to adhd actually be down to my thyroid problem. My recent blood test result is tsh 5.72 and t4 is 22.5

With a TSH of 5.72 you are under-medicated. If you are still having a TSH this high with a dose of 150 - 200 mcg Levo per day then it is possible that you don't convert from T4 to T3 very well. You would need to get TSH, Free T4 and Free T3 tested from the same blood draw to find out though. You might need to have some T3 added to your dose of thyroid meds - but that ain't easy!

Having the wrong levels of Free T3 for you may cause lots of symptoms, including symptoms relating to the brain and mental health :

When you have B12 tested you will also need Folate - Ferritin & VitD tested as all need to be optimal.
