Hello, down below I have attached my blood test. Can you give me an opinion...

For a long time I've had symptoms familiar to hypothyroidism, tiredness etc... I think all started when I got a throat infection (streptococcum), I've been in hospital for 2 weeks, I've been given all kinds of antibiotics to kill the infection.

I went to my gp. And he gave me levothyroxine, 25mcg.

I feel really tired.

I would like you to take a look. At my blood test and give me your opinion... I'm not an expert...thank you very much...

And by the way ramped up te 25 mcg to 50 mcg, i thought 25 is too little...

Your TSH was over range.

Unless elderly or frail NHS guidelines saying standard starter dose is 50mcgs

beta.nhs.uk/medicines/levot...

When blood is retested in 6-8 weeks you need FT4 and FT3 tested plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested and vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

GP unlikely to agree to all these, but suggest you try anyway

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting.

If on Levothyroxine, don't take in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances too, especially gluten. So it's important to get tested.
