Could this be a brand issue?

Might I be reacting to something in the tablet? I'm not sure how to tell.

I was started on Wockhart 25mcg every other day. Then moved to 25mcg every day and felt a bit worse. Then up to 25/50 and suffered depression and anxiety that wore off every day by about 5pm. More water under the bridge...

...I am now trying to move from 50mcg to 75mcg and I can't do it. I'm alternating it at the moment but I feel worse. Since adding in to 75mcg my new symptoms include: a strange and unpleasant kind of prickling/burning sensation in my toes, top of feet and lower legs. Even more fluid retention/swelliing and/or weight gain. Anxiety is back. I can't concentrate or motivate myself and I struggle with joint pains in my legs and I can feel my foot trying to move into a bout of plantar fasciitis. Walking is getting harder and I didn't think that was possible.

I need to increase as my TSH is going up not down even though my my free T's are staying the same just below half way in range.

I briefly took Teva last year when the chemist switched me. It was awful. Worse than this because I was exhausted. But I am wondering if at the higher dosage I'm suffering some sort of reaction to the Wockhart tablet?

My ferritin isn't great, but I'm working on it. Other important levels are OK, I've been careful with those.

Some of us do have a sensitivity to fillers/binders in tablets. Try taking an anti-histamine 1 hour before next dose and see if this makes a difference. If so ask pharmacist what other make can he offer. He may need a new prescription from GP.

You may have to source T3 if the new T4 doesn't work. Some members cannot tolerate synthetic T4 whatever one they try.

It is awful to feel worse than before you are diagnosed and hopeful that thyroid hormone replacements are going to work. If you didn't have thyroid antibodies tested ask for these too as it could mean you have hashimoto's which is the commonest form of hypo. The antibodies attack the gland and wax and wane until you're hypo but treatment is the same.
