Hi all,I was wondering if anyone on here has hasimotos disease and bipolar 2. The reason I ask is that since being diagnosed in May last year with hashimotos I am increasingly finding my bipolar more difficult to manage.Just wondered if someone might be able to throw some light on the subject.
Many thanks for this fantastic forum.

There is some pretty good evidence linking Hashimoto’s to depression so could have a link to wider issues. Understand the link is broken soon as thyroid is properly treated, a chemical or hormonal link. Obviously not an expert.
There was an administrator on here until recently who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. But once she got her thyroid hormone levels right her bipolar disorder went into remission. Obviously there are no guarantees this will happen to everyone.
If you have any recent thyroid test results you could post them and ask for feedback.
I do wonder if some people get diagnosed with mental health conditions when it could be thyroid and autoimmune disease all along? Treating thyroid disease correctly might alter other things in the body, ultimately positively but it might cause need for adjustments.
