Not necessarily, you may not be on the correct dose yet and / or your body may not yet have adjusted to the change.

Oh! if only thyroid replacements worked as quickly. That would be really wonderful but it doesn't happen like that.

Is your dose of Armour equivalent to what you were taking on levothyroxine? Roughly 1 gr of Armour is said to be around 100mcg of levothyroxine. Do you take one daily dose with one glass of water on an empty stomach?

Ok. So as far as I can make out from previous posts, you were taking 2 grains of Thiroyd. And have been prescribed 1.5 grains of Armour - which is in itself a dosage cut. And you were taking half of that 1.5 grains - so 0.75 grains - for the first few days? Of course you don’t feel better.

How much are you taking now?

I would love to come off of Levo after being on it for 20 + years , but because my GP won’t prescribe NDT i would have to do it on my own and that’s scary . Are you in the UK ?

Hope you feel better soon

I was on Levo and very ill on it. Felt worse even though Dr told me I was fine but because i didnt feel better, the Endo stopped it completely. Left with no meds for many years and for the last 6 months, have been on NDT from functional Dr, who was shocked and reassured me that i would improve. Six months on and I feel 10 years younger, not optimal yet but have had a lot of issues to address (gut problems, hormonal imbalance, low vitamin levels and adrenal exhaustion) so I am not looking back. A lot of people dont do well on Levo but at some point, most refuse to continue being ill and are desperate enough to buy their own. This country is one of the worst for thyroid treatment. Dont give up!

Yes! NDT changed my life! Levo only exasperated my symptoms. So sick on that crap. Finally got an Endo to prescribe Armour NDT. I got my life back. After a few weeks I could feel a huge change in my energy level and even pain. However, Armour changed the formula or something and after a few years on it, my symptoms returned. I then changed to Tyrovanz NDT. I'm feeling better again. Also, I'm gluten free and basically on Paleo diet.

Yes, I am eating Paleo style now, gluten free, wheat free and working on dairy free.

I'm hoping to start ndt soon Clare.

I may have to buy it myself, and do some research on transitioning over to it from levo. Think I've been on levo about the same amount of time as you have.

Hi Andy can I ask your reasons for wanting to stop Levo ? My reasons are articles I have read about Levo being bad for you and people feel much better on NDT .

Read a few books on it, and lots of articles. Before big pharma convinced Dr's that T4 alone was the way forward, ndt was the thing people were on.

Personally I'm trying to find a solution to having little energy, so wanting to try this, as I've read lots of people do well on it, and have better energy levels.

I'm now seeing endo at addenbrooke's in Cambs, and they seem open to the idea of switching over?

I've met some truly awful endos, but this new one seems good..... At last! 😁

14 days is nothing! And it is very typical that docs under-dose their patients, then wonder why treatment isn't succeeding. It would likely be instructive for you to figure out what your "full replacement dose" is, then compare it to the dose you are on now. Send me a PM if you want to know how to do this.

I'm in USA, I'm on armour, have it compounded, so it's in natural form. Is that available for u? I was on several other meds which were pharmaceutical made me feel worse. The armour, has helped so much, in so many benefits, joint pain, it works t3 and t4 (this site told me) stomach ache....alot, helped me, I'll pay for it myself, to feel better, brain fog remains bad, lack of motivation really bad. Green tea has been suggested. I can only tell you my how I think it's helped, hope it helps you, if you go this way, best of feeling better🏖

Try drinking A lot of good water, B12 or multi B's, green tea comes in tab or caplets, play some good music, make a list, make your room, house nice clean, airy, bright positive vibes going, go for a walk, or a drive, sit in a beautiful place, maybe a chance something will help...no junk food, clean, fresh, volunteer to others who are homeless, or food bank, get out of your own head, I try these, sometimes they work, or if not my dog is happier🐶 green tea helps burn fat also, that we can all benefit from. I hope something helped you, or gave u an idea....🌻
