Hi, I take 1.5 Grains of NDT . . my test results are well within range including all vits and mins (no recent ones to post) however I don't sleep properly (driving me insane!) and my hunch is that it's Thyroid related. As far as feeling well is concerned . . I feel OK in general but I'm not sure if I remember what it is to actually feel 'well'
When I read the posts on here there never seems to be any folk taking less than 2 Grains and I can't help wondering whether I should try upping my dosage, though I am nervous about trying. I'd be interested to know if anyone else is taking approx 1.5 Grains?
Thanks for any answers in advance. Richard

Some people take many more grains but it is up to the individual. When you raise dose and still symptomatic, you can increase by 1/4 NDT tablet every two weeks always taking note of pulse/temp and drop back to previous dose if they increase too much and you have unpleasant symptoms. The three chapters below may be helpful and were by a doctor who was an Adviser to TUK.
I was started on 1.5 grains of ndt by my endo ...a year or so ago and then slowly built it up over 5 /6 weeks according to my symptoms of which i had a lot of .... then i have a blue horizon blood test every 6 weeks to monitor whats going on with ndt and vitamins...you do have to be patient and increase by 25mcg every few weeks as i say we are all different but climb the ladder slowly its worth it. I was not sleeping at all for over 5 years sometimes awake all night and i was adamant not to ever take a sleeping tablet...and at times i was desperate!! But with the help of optimal vitamins ..ndt...i now sleep most nights occasionally i wake at 1 am or 3 am but i do go back to sleep ..i think taking my magnessium at 6pm away from all my ndt etc has helped me get my sleep pattern back HOORAY I was like a zombie had to give up work and life really for a few years.
Good luck to you Richard you will get there it just takes a little time .
