Hi Ariadne, You must be taking levothyroxine? It is a synthetic T4 and your FT4 level is almost at the top. That actually would be fine if your FT3 was also closer to the top of the range but it is low by comparison. This usually means your FT4 is not converting to FT3 as it should. This is a problem for many people. stopthethyroidmadness.com/2...
Other factors like high cortisol or low cortisol or low iron may affect conversion.
Hi Heloise, yes that was on levothyroxine. I will try and read up on it but I find this all very hard to understand. Thank you
And the sad part is that doctors don't seem to understand it either. But even if they did, you need to be part of the healing. To insure that your levothyroxine works for you, you need your nutritional levels in good range as well. Part of our hypothyroidism is that our digestion is off. You also need good bacteria in our gut to make some of those vitamins. You need lots of B vitamins and they are a crucial part of that process. D3 is a hormone that participates with all the hormones since it is in EVERY cell of the body. I would start supplementing. There are good books you can get guidance from or websites like the one I linked. Dr. John Bergman on you tube has a great ability to explain how the body works.
I am not glutenfree yet. I have had bloods done by gp and they come back as satisfactory . I take a multi vitamin and bp medicine. I will try and get those tests done. Thank you for reply.
