Age 29 hypothyroid front teeth gap !!!
See your dentist. This happened to me and it was a cyst growing in my top jaw between the roots of my two front teeth. I had surgery to remove it and my teeth are as they were before the cyst started to grow.
Clemmie
But no cyst is there visible in my mouth
No, nothing to see until it was xrayed. The surgeon said I was lucky I noticed that my teeth had moved because these type of cysts keep growing without showing and take up so much room in the jaw that the first you know is when your jaw breaks. I’ve had X-rays since the surgery and the bone in the jaw has grown back into the space left by the cyst and everything is fine now. I have a scar on my gum but nothing apart from that.
Clemmie
U r scaring me too much... Other than ur front teeth moved , what other symptoms u had with it before being diagnosed ?
My teeth were hurting where they were being pushed aside but that was all. Nothing to be afraid of , you don’t even know that is what you have happening. I’ve never had anything wrong with my teeth, always been very straight, no problems and they’ve been fine since.
Thanks
A diastema (a gap between front teeth) has absolutely no relationship with hypothyroidism or any medication. It could be from malocclusion (misalignment of your teeth), development of a tongue thrust (which pushes teeth outward), swollen gums or gum disease (periodontitis), or in rare conditions like that of Barrister , a cyst. Do you have any gum problems?
You need to see a dentist for a proper evaluation and diagnostics.
I don't have any gum problem..
No problem in mouth , al clean ... Only thing noticed is this slight gap in front teeth...!!
When is the last time you saw a dentist and did they do X-rays? How often do you go to the dentist?
You might want to get a bone density scan although if you have never had one before it will be hard to draw any conclusions from it unless you are well under par. There is a myth that overmedication of thyroid meds causes osteoporosis which I do not believe in general but there might be some rare cases which gave rise to the myth in the first place. Bone density loss could account for a redistribution of your teeth.
If this is the case just drink a lot of milk, take vitamins D and K and just generally lots of calcium bearing foods - or supplements (but don't overdo the calcium tablets they can precipitate out in your kidneys and cause stones).
Thanks alot 😊
