Hi, I am just wanting to know how long it took for other people to get their results from a 24hr holter monitor test? I had my appointment on the 28th march 18. Who contacts you about your results? (My doctor arranged it to get a monitor fitted but I went to the hospital for it to be fitted) And also what happens once you get your results? Is there any other test they might do etc.
I had the monitor because I am having missed heart beats. I have also had a blood test (was fine but iron was borderline) and also I have had an ECG which showed my heart rate was abit fast (not sure how fast as the doctor never said)
Thanks for any help

At another appointment about a month later, I mentioned to the nurse practioner that no-one had contacted me. He checked the results and said that there were 2 episodes of tachycardia and multiple ectopic heartbeats but that wasn't enough to refer me to cardiology.
I had to have another episode of tachycardia bad enough to call an ambulance before the surgery decided to do anything else, and I am now waiting for a 3 week heart monitor to be fitted at the end of May.
Your surgery may be different. If you want to know then why not ring up and ask.
The ECG will show your heart rate during the couple of minutes it takes to do it, that's all. So it may have been fast at the time it was done but not normally.
My results came back about four weeks later. I had to go to another surgery to have it fitted and removed. I was told by my Dr to phone at 4 weeks to see whether results were in, then to make the appointment. I had ectopic heartbeats, they seem to be a lot better these days.
Oh right, it's only been nearly 3 weeks so I'll give another week and then ring if I haven't heard anything. Did they give you anything for your ectopic beats? Thanks for your reply
Hi Melanie, No, I was told that I would just have to live with them. Naturally everybody’s case is different, mine seems to have resolved itself to a fairly good degree of late, whether I am less stressed than I was before, don’t feel it and also strange as my TSH is raised well above range again, but no palpitations as yet. Mine may have been related to getting my B12 up from deficient, could have been a shock to the body, all of a sudden having B12.
I do hope you get your results soon and that there is nothing serious.
I didn't need an echo, but someone here will have had one, I'm sure. I was told I could have beta blockers if I wanted them but the cardiologist advised me not to as it would make my asthma worse. I find that T3, magnesium threonate and meditation help a bit with ectopic beats - but if you keep busy you don't notice them. Your GP may already have your results. I got mine really fast as the hospital sent them directly to me. I never bothered seeing the GP afterwards - no point.
