First time with a T3 result - can anyone advise

Increased my Levo on the advice of a private endo and was told if I feel no improvement I might benefit from some T3. If I can avoid any more pills I would rather but intrigued at the same time to see if T3 would be the missing link to make me feel loads better.

Based on latest results can anyone tell me if I seem to be converting ok? I think I do feel somewhat better these past few days but always expecting to go downhill again as seems to be the pattern. So here are my results:

T4 - 18 (10-25)

T3 - 4.7 (4-7)

TSH - 0.68 (0.55 - 4.78)

Thanks

Your conversion ratio is 18 / 4.7 = 3.82 : 1

Good conversion takes place between 3:1 and 4:1 so yours is pretty good.

What is obvious though is that both FT4 and FT3 are low in range. Most Hypos feel best when FT4 and FT3 are in the upper part of their ranges.

Your FT4 is 57% through range and FT3 is 23% through range. They not balanced and conversion could be better. This can be helped by optimal nutrient levels. What are your current levels and what are you supplementing with?

I think a good first step would be an increase in Levo and making sure nutrient levels are optimal. If the FT4 increases but the FT3 stays low, with optimal nutrient levels, then adding T3 would be a good idea to try.

Thanks SeasideSusie - don't think my GP will recheck T3 levels again I think he did it as a one off as was advised by private endo. Been supplementing as per previous advice from your good self but my request for Vit D to be rechecked after 11 months was refused and haven't dared ask for everything else to be rechecked because as far as doctor is concerned everything is satisactory. The usual frustrations!

Looks like you'll have to do what hundreds of us here do and that is private tests with Medichecks or Blue Horizon.
