I have been taking Thyroid S for a few years now and feel much better than when I was on levo. I changed from levo to Thyroid S overnight so only take Thyroid S. I tweeked the dose until I felt it was right for me. Hope this helps.

Really helps thanks. Did you stop Levo and start Thyroid S overnight or where you not on Levo?

If you post your latest thyroid test results (with reference ranges) and say what dose of Levo you are taking, members can help.

Everyone is different so it doesn't matter what dose anyone else takes, you have to find your own level and whether NDT on it's own is right for you or whether you need the addition of Levo or T3, most people take NDT alone.

Thanks I am just trying to get an idea of approx doses at moment. Had terrible experience with so called endro. Am going to see another endro who is rec on here. I will be getting all my tests done again just before I see endro. Had them all done vits etc optimal after great advise on here then collapsed and off to hospital hence ending up with vile endro. I am thinking ahead that even if endro prescribes for me I might not be able to get script filled so just trying to get an idea about doses peoples experience on different meds in case I have to go it alone. Will post ranges on here if it comes to that. You have helped me in the past Thanks again.

Hi Maggimay,

I started on Thyroid S about a year ago. I was on 100mcg Levothyroxine, but I felt so ill on it , like I was being slowly poisoned! I started on 1/2 tab of 1 grain Thyroid S and upped the dose every few weeks by 1/4 grain. I felt a bit over medicated not long ago and reduced my dose. It has taken quite a while to reach the right dose, tweaking it every now and again, now on 1 and 1/2 grains but I am feeling really well. I keep a close check on my vitamin levels especially Vit D as this seems to have the biggest effect on me if it dips. What dose of Levo are you taking? I take Throid S on it's own. Give it a go and see how you get on. Best thing I ever did!

Good luck

Thanks very much. Helpful stuff. Just getting an idea of approx amounts folk feel well on. Know it varies a lot but if I can get a view of it it gives perspective. Thanks again

The dose of levo/T3 or NDT is an individual thing, e.g. whether your thyroid is still working, or you've had a semi or full thyroidectomy, also possibly weight (not proved although vets prescribe by weight). For what it's worth I have half a thyroid & was inadequately treated on 100mcg Levo & I changed to 1 grain NatureThroid, 1.5 then increased to 2 (I had tried a half grain before Levo) Didn't notice anything changing to Thyroid-S - but tests indicate I need more in the winter (or due to being heavier?!!). We need optimal nutrients/vitamins for thyroid hormone to work, J :D

Hi.

Went from Levo to NDT July last year. Tried going half half to begin, but it was too much. For me I had to change over slowly slowly 1/2 a grain at a time. Increase NDT every week or so until I was %100 NDT.
