Just saw my Gp who did repeat bloods as I still feel terrible, argued that my B12 is low at 217 ranges 180-2000 they are failing to treat this. However my query is, I am still feeling terrible, feeling lightheaded, faint, exhausted, very sore head every day and foggy and persistent diarrhoea.
My Endo told me to up my T3 from a quarter of a 5mg pill to a half a 5mg pill as I don't tolerate large doses of T3.
So currently I am on 1.25 T3 (quarter of a 5mg t3 pill) and in mornings I am on 62.5mg T4 which is two 25mg pills and one half a 25mg pill)
Blood results from Mid Feb:
T4 16 ranges (9-21)
T3 1.5 ranges (0.9-2.4)
TSH 1.3 ranges (0.2-4.5)
B12 212 ranges (180-2000)
Folate 9.1ug/l (ranges 2.8-20)
Ferritin 22ug/l (ranges 15-200)
Iron 9umol/l (ranges 10-28)
I am just wondering will this make me feel better upping or make me feel worse considering the current symptoms I am suffering and the Low b12..
thank you for reading

Thyroid hormones won't work properly without adequate levels of vitamins & minerals.
B12/folate and ferritin/iron are low, (I bet Vitamin D is too). Sadly if the GP won't sort it, we have to ourselves - however for B12 FIRST rule out pernicious anaemia - have a look at the PA site here on HU healthunlocked.com/pasoc
shaws Hi Shaws, I have upped my T3 dose to the half of a 5mg pill as requested by my Endo and going of the blood results above I posted as I was undermedicating. Been on the upped dose since Fri but past two days have in the mornings and daytime sometimes felt like my legs are like lead and heavy dead weights to lift and feeling abit more anxious, does this mean the T3 isn't working for me or is it just my body adjusting to the new dose? I know it is minimal doses but I am very sensitive to any drugs unfortunately! I am also on 62.5mg T4 in morning which is two 25mg pills plus a half a 25mg pill so in total my t4 and t3 dose = 75mg Thyroid hormone
The first thing you must do is ask the GP to test your intrinsic factor for B12. You could have a B12 deficiency or pernicious anaemia. This needs action now. B12 and Vit D are prohormones and have essential work to do in our bodies. If your doctor has taken no action I would think of changing him.
I will add in SeasideSusie who will advise how best to get the following to optimum. It will have to be gradually. I know you haven't had Vit D test but you should have:-
B12 212 ranges (180-2000)
Folate 9.1ug/l (ranges 2.8-20)
Ferritin 22ug/l (ranges 15-200)
Iron 9umol/l (ranges 10-28)
I'm sorry you are having problems with your dose. Your T3 dose is a fraction really but at least you have some.
When you get your vits/minerals at an optimum I think you'll begin to feel better and then look again at your thyroid hormones.
I am sorry you are so sensitive to medications. You shouldn't to T3 as it is absorbed into our body in about 24 hours.
It would be safe to continue with the doses of Thyroid meds I am on and keep my body stable until I get the minerals and vits optimal? I might hold off going up to 5mg of the T3 until I feel slightly more stable
You might find an overall improvement when your vits/minerals start to work. Then you can increase T3. Thyroid hormones are not medications as such but replacement hormones, so more compatible with the human body.
The good news is that the Gp did my intrinsic factor but advised me it takes a little longer to come back from the lab. So I am hoping it comes back soonish.
I have also ordered a private finger prick Vit D test which should arrive tomorrow and will know this result asap. I am supposed to get up to the full dose of t3 - 5mg so the half shouldn't be making me feel wobbly or any symptoms. I thought maybe just my body adjusting to it? It might take a few days. It is a minimal dose, I hopefully can get up to 5mg but I am going to take it slowly to see if I am reacting ok to the T3.
