I don't know anything about that supplement but you can Google Levothyroxine + L-lysine, similarly for liothyronine, to see if there are any interactions.
What I would say is buy a better quality. H&B are cheap for a reason - cheap ingredients and lots of fillers. Check the ingredients of that supplement :
L-Lysine Hydrochloride,
Bulking Agent (Microcrystalline Cellulose),
Anti-Caking Agents (Stearic Acid, Silicon Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate),
Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose,
Glazing Agents (Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Triacetin, Carnauba Wax),
Colour (Titanium Dioxide),
Maltodextrin,
Emulsifier (Polysorbate 80).
If you want a really good one look at Health Leads Pure L-Lysine Powder 500g Pharmaceutical Grade (100% Additive Free) - no additives, no fillers.
Hi. I’ve been using that same brand of I lysine for around four years. I stated it because it helps hair loss (well that’s what I read). Now I know my hair loss was probably caused by my thyroid, but I do have to say it’s been great. I was only diagnosed with thyroid disease last August and I have continued with I lysine. I take Levothyroxine at night and all my vitamins after breakfast (so plenty of time between). I have not found any issues at all. There’s been no interaction and no side effects.
I have used solgar. When looking in H &B I saw solgar brand. I bought K2 and when I asked about them the assistant said H&B have bought out Solgar .
They were twice the price of same brand on line .
Does that mean a big price rise on good vitamins 😕
The assistant is wrong. H&B did not buy out Solgar.
A vey brief resume, unless things have changed again - there is a parent company (Carlyle Group) that owned both Solgar and H&B at one time (along with other companies). That parent company was purported to be dealing in arms, I no longer use Solgar brand as that doesn't sit well with me. H&B has now been sold to a group owned by a Russian billionaire.
Solgar supplements did seem to have a large increase in price fairly recently - my cousin wanted to buy their sublingual methylcobalamin and the price compared to when I used to use it a year or so before had had a massive rise. There are other good brands that I use that haven't had price increases.
Hi
I get cold sores occasionally and took that supplement for a while, way before I was on liothyronine. I am not sure it really helped as I have never been a big sufferer but I would advise caution as I found that , when I was first establishing my T3 titration, each time I raised my dose I got a bad cold sore. I put this down to the way T3 increases cortisol activity. So I still get occasional cold sores during periods of stress and if I raise my T3. So there may be an interaction with thyroid meds and I would advise keeping careful diary notes of any perceived changes.
My OH found that L-lysine made a huge difference to how often she got cold sores. Incidence massively reduced - so well worth a try.
But take it well away from levo/lio, just to be sure of avoiding any clashes.
How are your iron levels? I find that if mine are low I get trouble with cold sores.
