I live in the Peterborough area. I'm an American and living here for work. I was previously on Armour Thyroid and want to go back on it. My private doctor here only will prescribe llevothoroxine which is just awful for me. Even though my levels are now in range, I feel absolutely horrible on it. Does anyone know a private doctor who will prescribe this for me? Than you.

Need a private doctor
Hi heylady
I saw a private Endocrinologist that works in Lincolnshire and Nottingham and he told me that don’t prescribe Armour due to NHS guidelines.
In fact he was a waste of time and money despite diagnosing me with Hashimoto’s.
You will find that if you are in range for your TSH no doctor will prescribe any thyroid medication regardless if you feel awful or not (speaking from my own experience)
You may have no choice but to self medicate.
Lots do it on here and I’m one of them. I’m taking NDT, Armour from the USA is more money.
If you still know your previous Armour supplier could you get in touch with them?
However, I would suggest getting some private bloods tests for full thyroid/ vitamins and posting them on here to see what’s happening.
The more experienced guys will then advise the next step and someone may PM with a trusted supplier.
As you appreciate we don’t publish suppliers on here, and they like to see your recent thyroid results.
Best wishes

Thank you Peanut31. My thyroid levels are in range now with the llevothoroxine and that seems to be the only thing the doctors here are concerned with. He doesn't seem concerned that I am feeling absolutely horrible on it. Unfortunately, my supplier in the US when I was living there was just my neighborhood pharmacy. It was only $8 a month. Thanks for your help!
Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence here in the UK, if you are in range, but, feeling ill this is irrelevant to our GP's, they go by lab ranges and or ignore the lab ranges as well.
I've been offered anti depressants, told it's anxiety and the GP insulted me saying that I have been misinformed regarding my information on Hashimoto's.
Don't be frightened to go against the GP by self medicating, at first I was very hesitant, but it become very clear to me after several expensive visits to a private Endocrinologist and a final attempt with my GP they were not prepared to help.

Heylady,
Email dionne.fulcher@thyroiduk.org for a list of private GPs who can prescribe. Check with the doctor that s/he will prescribe Armour before confirming an appointment.
Alternatively, you can buy Armour online without prescription and self medicate. Write a new post asking members to send you a private message where you can source Armour.
Ok, thank you. I will do both!
