Just wondering if anyone has seen a private Doctor? I have Autoimmune Thyroid disease and my doctor is hopeless. Would appreciate any advice on this, as I feel really ill at the moment. my Gp refuses to refer me to an endocrinologist as he feels he can deal with it. Many Thanks

Yes I did today Thank you. Just need some advice as to whether I go private or go through NHS?
arjs, for autoimmune there is a lot you can do by modifying your diet and finding the triggers. This is a link to one helpful site. PR
...it is a question of reading and learning for yourself as so few Docs understand auto-immunity. There's always Dr Yeheudi Schoenfeld at Mount Sinai Hospital in Tel Aviv - he's a world expert on Auto-immune illnesses. It's a Functional Medical Practitioner we all need - rather than a consultant specialising in this and that. One person - one body - that's the person we are looking for....someone who looks at everything. Learning from others here is one way forward - it has certainly helped me. Even though my anti-bodies are HIGH after years of trying to do the right thing - I actually feel well. That has to be down to the fine tuning. Are you gluten free ?
I am re-reading Haskell's book - Hope for Hashimotos - and yes there is good information within. Also Izabella Wentz has written a good book - Hashimotos - The Root Cause. Website too and a Newsletter is available....
deos anyone have the list of doctors from louise,i was unable to open the files she sent .please PM me.
My Gp emailed the Endo who just suggested slightly increasing my levo. I am now reading Isabella Wentz and also Robb Wolf "The Paleo Solution" where he explains that gluten is the big problem for auto immune disease such as Hashi's. My symptoms go up and down, feeling quite well at the moment but was very ill 3 months ago. I have just about given up on NHS. Hope the books help
