Hi I just wondered if anyone else finds that Vit D makes them extremely itchy?
Vit D: Hi I just wondered if anyone else finds... - Thyroid UK
Vit D
It may be the other ingredients in the supplement. Which one are you taking?
It's Fultium-D3, 800 IU
Thank you!
Have you checked the Patient Information Leaflet?
Listed under side effects are
Uncommon:....
Skin and subcutaneous disorders
Rare: Pruritus, rash and urticaria.
So that's a possibility.
Also it contains
Capsule content:
Maize Oil, refined - some people react to that
Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) (E321) - under side effects:
"Due to the side effects, the EU has restricted its use. There is evidence that BHT causes cell division.
Not permitted in infant foods, can provoke an allergic reaction in some people, may trigger hyperactivity, asthma and other intolerance's;..........
Why not change to one which has no added ingredients, you'd have to buy it yourself but may be better for you and they're not expensive.
Check out Doctors Best or Now Foods D3, both just contain Cholecalciferol and olive oil (to aid absorption as D3 is fat soluble) only.
If you reacted to either of those then you may be one of those people who just react to D3.
Oh thank you for your help. I think I'll just buy my own in future! 😊

Very often the best idea, at least we have control over the quality of what we're taking. Some of the prescribed supplements are absolutely dire. I remember one member mentioning she had been prescribed Valupak D3, available online for 74p for 60 tablets, full of fillers and rubbish.
It all comes down to money, yet again!
