Welcome to our forum,

I am sorry you were diagnosed at such a young age and I assume you've been on levothyroxine alone since you were diagnosed.

Could it be the fillers/binders in some of the levothyroxine which has caused sensitivities?

This is a past post which may be helpful.

However, I doubt you remember how you felt as a young person before you developed hypothyroidism.

I would ask GP if you could have a Full Thyroid Function Test. It should be at the very earliest time possible, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose of levo and test and take afterwards.

This procedure gives us the best results.

Ask GP for TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies.

He should also test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate

Get a print-out of your results, with the ranges. Ranges are in brackets after the result and put on a new post for comments from members.

It's never too late to try to improve our health.

Thank you for link, I will have a read through it.

I have a B12 injection every 3mths,

I also have a vitamin D deficiency but my stomach can't tolerate the vitamin D tablets. Also have GORD disease and dairy intolerance.

What I can remember I was quite tubby as a child also very tired and had bad migraines. I had to stay in hospital and have some tests done and a blood test confirmed that I had a Under active thyroid disorder.

I feel extremely cold all the time, it has seemed to have got worse.

You need a new Full Thyroid Blood Test because symptoms returning let us know our body needs new tests. As soon as you get the results put them on a new post with the ranges. Remember to follow the procedure above.

Re "GORD disease" which I understand is when acid rises from the stomach and causes pain. I assume you have undergone the appropriate tests to have been given a GORD diagnosis. However this is an excerpt from a link which might be informative:

The acid reflux-thyroid connection

Although there isn’t a direct link between acid reflux and thyroid disease, this relationship can be seen in those with an underactive thyroid. This is especially true if it’s due to Hashimoto disease, which is an autoimmune disease where the thyroid tissue is destroyed.

It’s thought that Hashimoto disease is associated with an esophageal motility disorder that can lead to heartburn and reflux symptoms. Also, those with hypothyroidism have a tendency to be overweight or obese due to a lack of thyroid hormone. This also increases the risk for reflux symptoms.

healthline.com/health/gerd/...

As hypothyroidism usually gives us 'low acid' and the symptoms of "high or low acid" are practically identical but if hypo we have to take digestive enzymes to provide acid rather than a prescription to reduce acid. Doctors usually give our members medication which 'lowers acid' due to symptoms being nearly identical.

I am not medically qualified but most of us who are hypothyroid have 'low acid'. I think I would look further into this. Quite a few of us have been given diagnoses for things we didn't have.

Sallie66,

Try a vitD3 spray.

If you post your recent thyroid results and ranges members will advise whether you are optimally dosed.

In a word, I think Yes.

Our immune system is so compromised we react to more and more the list goes on. This is how it is for me. Therefore am trying to help it by healing the gut where 85% of the Immune system is housed.

Had blood test done, they found I had to much Thyroxine . So Dr change my dosage from 100mg to 75mg, but I notice the brand has changed to TEVA. Since I've been taking these tablets I've been having really bad headaches, pain in middle of shoulders , feeling sick, tremors in hands, pins & needles, dizziness, confusion, pains in tummy & palpitations have come back. In all the years I've been taking Thyroxine I have never felt so ill. I be ringing Drs in morning. Has anyone else had these side effects with this drug.

It's possible you need your B12 injections more often. Also why did your GP reduce your dose ? - probably because he was only looking at the TSH result which is co.pletwlg wrong.

Many people find Levothyroxine brands are not interchangeable.

Once you find a brand that suits you, best to make sure to only get that one at each prescription. Watch out for brand change when dose is increased or at repeat prescription.

Many patients do NOT get on well with Teva brand of Levothyroxine. Though it is the only one for lactose intolerant patients. Teva is the only brand that makes 75mcg tablet.

No other medication at same as Levothyroxine, leave at least 2 hour gap. Some like calcium, magnesium, HRT, omeprazole or vitamin D should be four hours away

(Time gap doesn't apply to Vitamin D mouth spray)

Mouth spray vitamin D is often much more effective as it avoids poor gut function

GP will only prescribe to bring vitamin D up to 50nmol. Aiming to improve by self supplementing to at least 80nmol and around 100nmol may be better .

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

etesting twice yearly via vitamindtest.org.uk

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is good as avoids poor gut function.

It's trial and error what dose each person needs. Frequently with Hashimoto's we need higher dose than average

Acid reflux is common hypothyroid symptom and usually due to LOW stomach acid

Next step is to get FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing privately

As you have B12 injections it's recommended on here to also supplement a daily good quality vitamin B complex

But suggest you get full testing first before starting any B complex.
