Flowerpotgirl,

TSH 8.16 indicates primary hypothyroidism. Is this the first time TSH has been abnormal?

I need to see the lab ref ranges to interpret the other results. Always ask for the lab ref ranges because results are meaningless without them.

I think TBII may be the Graves test. healthboards.com/boards/thy... It's not uncommon to have Graves and Hashimoto's in tandem but it looks as though Hashimoto's is dominant as you have become hypothyroid. thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...

TPO slightly positive is positive. Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.

Thank u it's all new to me trying understand that was letter from hospital no ranges. They don't really explain to u. I still feel rotten a lot can't do what normally can do very frustrating and annoying.

Do u know if groiter will ever go itself? Consultant didn't seem concerned by it but had cough for months and breathless etc

Flowerpotgirl,

Goitre might shrink a little if you were given Levothyroxine but is unlikely to disappear. I really don't understand why someone with TSH 40, 23 and 8.6 is not prescribed Levothyroxine.
