Hi! I'm new. From last year, suffering from recurrent tonsillitis, and a little hypothyroid (on thyroxin 25 mcg tablet) for last few months. Is there any prognostic links between these two diseases?

Hypothyroid-tonsillitis links?
Welcome to the forum, WatchmanAH.
If you post your recent thyroid results and ranges I can advise whether you are optimally dosed on 25mcg.
I don't believe there is a link between tonsillitis and hypothyroidism but under treated hypothyroidism may leave you more prone to succumbing to infection.
Hypothyroidism will definitely reduce your immunity to infection and disease. On two occasions I was under medicated temporarily, once obeying my stupid Endo and a second time doing a self imposed experiment. On both occasions I suffered terrible colds, flu and constant snivels, things I never usually suffer from. The effect lasted about 2 months until I raised my dose - then, poof, all disappeared overnight and I was back to good health.

50mcg is a starting dose. I've read undermedicating can make symptoms worse rather than better. Perhaps your GP needs a nudge with regard to increasing your dose to one that's effective. Try taking your temperature first thing to monitor your progress: regenerativenutrition.com/c...
Low body temperature with hypothyroidism makes it harder for our bodies to fight off bacterial & viral invasions. I still have upper respiratory tract infections, but the frequency & duration are far less since my temperature rose a whole degree from 35.2 celcius from taking thyroid hormones. Cold weather weakens our immune system, too.

Standard starter dose is 50mcgs
25mcg can make patients feel worse
Nice guidelines saying how to initiate and increase. Note most patients require between 100mcg and 200mcg
