Obviously they want to reduce my dose but luckily they can’t because I get my meds from a specialist. I was meant to have a full thyroid panel and this was all I got. I’m a bit cross. I’m not over medicated. I feel good. For the first time in ages. Ughhhh Don’t know why I bothered going to the surgery should of stayed away

I know how you feel. Went for recent bloods at the GP to check Thyroid levels etc. I gave a small list of things I wanted them to check - such as T3, T4, TSH and Anemia etc. Despite not being given back my levels I phoned and was told my TSH was 'fine' and the locum was considering withdrawing my Levo altogether. I'm only on 75mg now and although not feeling 100% it's the best or close to normal I've been in a while. Can they withdraw Levo etc. just like that?
Ugh it’s so frustrating isn’t it. I see a specialist now and I have none of these problems with him but he’s expensive so I have to see my gp in between visits and to be honest she’s been great but she is still told to go by the stupid nhs guidelines on ranges and stuff and is still told no when she requests tests for me. I had to get off Levo because it wasn’t working for me, I think I needed the addded T3 I’m now getting from NDT. I have heard they can withdraw Levo because they give the prescription so I think they can stop prescribing. I don’t think many docs would do that though but I have heard of it. I may for my NDT through my specialist surgery so luckily they can only advise me now they aren’t the be all and end all. Ugh what a way to start the week!
Does sound more complicated than it really should be. Sorry you have to pay for your treatment and NDT etc. I really wouldn't know the first place to start... well, I guess I'd ask on here. I do get prescriptions for Levo and deliberately put off getting my bloods gone at the GP after they suggested it would 'go'. Nightmare. How is NDT diff from Levo and how expensive is it?
I’ve just done some reading on posts as I know the tsh isn’t what I should be focusing on as I’m medicated by NDT. So I called back the surgery and asked for the range for free T3 and it’s 3.1 - 6.8 and mine was 7.1 so that has reassured me I’m probably not over medicated. Any opinions most welcome! I worry a lot x
Yes just a little though no? My specialist has said this is a very common result when adjusting to NDT and it should settle a little. I took meds at 8am and had tests done at 12 noon. Problem is if this is over medicated I have a problem because a quarter grain lower and my symptoms return :/
I take NDT and was told I must never go over range but I feel part, if not all or your problem is the closeness of your blood draw as thats when your NDT would have peaked. I tend to take my last medication the day before or you could take it 12 hours before the time of your test.
