Hi there i had my bloods for iron took on the 19th january as they had not been taken since july, they have come back as i suspected as gp told me back in december time i was iron defiecient and had tried 2 lots of different iron which did not suit me, when i had bloods taken i had only just started to take my new iron liquid a couple of days before so it would have not risen that quickly.
B12 is over top range at 705 lab-180-640.
Folate 4.9 lab 3-20 tried taking 2 lots of folic acid but really makes me feel sick.couldnt take it whilst pregnant either.
Ferritin-10 lab 28.-200-note by this saying they recommend a referral to GI and pr examination and ttg antibody essay?
I am currently taking floravital iron liquid and it has helped with energy levels and other symptons so i think it is doing something .
Why Gi?and what is ttg? Thanks guys.ππ

All celiac disease blood tests require that you be on a gluten-containing diet to be accurate. Tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies (tTG-IgA) β The tTG-IgA test will be positive in about 98% of patients with celiac disease who are on a gluten-containing diet. This is called the test's sensitivity.
Do you know if your antibodies are high?
this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's
Essential to test vitamin D, folate and B12 too
Always get actual results and ranges. Post results when you have them, members can advise
Hashimoto's affects the gut and leads to low stomach acid and then low vitamin levels
Low vitamin levels affect Thyroid hormone working
Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten
According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)
But don't be surprised that GP or endo never mention gut, gluten or low vitamins. Hashimoto's connection to gut is very poorly understood
Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies
Insist GP runs coeliac blood test first
Persistent low vitamins with supplements suggests coeliac disease or gluten intolerance
Hi slowdragon i am already celiac as i have been through all my tests and antibodies were done twice going back a year ago andv am gf and soya free but the lab people wont know this so it would be a suggestion if patient had not had tests done, i am not going back to gluten.no way. π¨π¨
Doc might just be testing to check you're managing the GF diet and nothing accidental slipping in there. They should test this one once a year anyway at yearly annual reviews which they're supposed to do
Hi there, back in November i asked 2 gps if i could have the injections and both times if was a big NO as they both said i am not Anemic yet! I have only just recently started a gentle iron liquid it is not as strong as gps but new research states that maybe treating iron in less a strength dose is more beneficial and gp also said it is not about the strength its about how well you absorb it, dont know how true but prescription ones i cant manage, so far so good it has kicked some of the symptons down after 2 weeks.xππ
Seems a bit pants - especially if diagnosed coeliacs and it is known it can take some years for stomach to heal properly. Glad it seems to be improving and hope it resoves soon x
gi is not the usa army it is gastro intestinal ha! G
What about that soup ?- you are good at savouries may be- the ice cream sounds yummy! As the retirement age for women is now 67 - you are never too late to join the army - equal opportunities -we can work till we drop - bye bye to that pension!
Thankyou clutter, i understand, i do eat quite alot of leafy green veg kale, dark cabbage, brocolli etc but i will try the other alternative to folic. X
