Taytadarz,

75 - 200 is replete. Most people are comfortable around 100-150. Your GP should refer to local guidelines or the cks.nice.org.uk/vitamin-d-d... Do NOT accept a prescription for 800iu which is a maintenance dose prescribed after vitD is replete >75. My sister's GP prescribed 2 x 20,000iu D3 weekly when her vitD was 40. Vitamin D should be taken 4 hours away from Levothyroxine.

You can buy vitD3 without prescription. If you decide to I would start with 7,500iu daily for 6 weeks then reduce to 5,000iu daily and retest in 4 months. If you buy on Amazon please use the affiliate link healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

When taking D3 there are important cofactors needed vitamindcouncil.org/about-v...

Magnesium helps D3 to work and K2-MK7 directs the extra uptake of calcium from food to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems like calcification of arteries and kidney stones.

We should retest twice a year when supplementing to ensure we stay within the range recommended by the Vit D Council - 100-150nmol/L. D3 is fat soluble and excess is stored so we need to make sure we don't reach toxicity level. D3 and K2-MK7 should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day or some form of dietary fat. Best to buy softgels containing olive oil (rather than tablets/capsules) as that contributes to the fat needed for their absorption.

THANK YOU so much for the very informative information . Just like patients can have low levels of Vitamin"D" the can also have to much of a good thing as you said . I'm so glad you talked about it because no one ever mentions when the levels go too high . It is a problem . I was experiencing it . Had loads of itching skin break outs constipation and even high blood pressure . I'm very grateful to SeasideSusie who reviewed my Vitamin "D" results and recommended that I back off from it for a bit till the levels come down . My issues have since resolved . THANK YOU so very much SeasideSusie for your GREAT advice as always .

What are the actual results for folate, ferritin and B12

Just because they are in range, doesn't necessarily make them adequate

Always get actual results and ranges on all blood tests

I’m not sure I went to the doctors today and had an argument with the receptionist who asked me to pay £10 to print my results.. I was raging!! Robbing *#%^%^

Yes outrageous, that's the maximum they can charge. Or £50 for printing out your whole medical record

Did you pay?

You may be able to view test results online - ring and ask about this. If you can then apply for online access to your account. You may need enhanced access to view blood test results. All GP practices are supposed to offer online access including test results, in reality very few yet have blood test results available online.

You could try asking for a print out whilst you're actually at an appointment with the doctor. Or ask him/her to read them out, with the ranges, and jot them down.
