CPav,

Can you post your recent thyroid results and ranges and say how much Levothyroxine you were taking at the time. We can at least work out whether you are likely to be optimally dosed on 90mg Thyroid-S.

My Dr upped my dose from 125mcg to 150mcg, but I started having palipatations so dropped myself back to the 125.. but I was on the higher dose for these results.TSH lo <0.01 0.32-4.00

FT4 18 9-19

FT3 4.8. 3.1-6.2

RT3 22. 8-25

Thyroperoxide antibody. 19. <35

Receptor antibodies TRAB <2. <10

I received RAI 18 years ago so I have no thyroid, my Dr thinks I’m actually hyper but I don’t agree. I don’t think I’m converting well.

So in frustration I’m self dosing. I started with 60mcg of Thyroid-s And I cut 100mcg in half of synthroid. I had some in the cupboard, I’ve been up and down with doses. I started feeling too tense, so after a week I stopped that and just took 60mcg Thyroid-s in the morning and a a 1/2 of Thyroid -s after lunch. But I seem to have these nagging headaches. Not so bad today so I hope I’m getting used to it. Do you think I upped too soon, I’m so afraid of going Hypo. This has all been in the span of a month.

Cpav,

You weren't biochemically overmedicated on 150mcg despite TSH being suppressed because FT4 and FT3 were within range. I think conversion was adequate but patients without a thyroid do often feel better with some T3 added to Levothyroxine or by switching to NDT.

I think you are probably undermedicated on 90mg Thyroid-S. 130mcg Levothyroxine is equivalent to 120mg Throid-S. You could add another 30mg to your post lunch dose.

If headaches persist beyond a couple of weeks after you increase dose you may want to try Thiroyd instead of Thyroid-S.

I’m not sure if I agree with you on my lab results either. They may be with in range but they are no way optimal which can make a huge difference. I think My FT4 is too high , it should be in the mid range and my FT 3 is way too low,it should be high or even over the range, and my reverse T3 is too high. Just saying

CPav,

I disagree competely. On Levothyroxine FT4 can be high in range, sometimes even over range, whereas FT3 should always remain within range. rT3 is within range so how can it be too high?

Your the first person to post that idea. Every other post I’ve seen on other sites say the absolute opposite. And knowing how I feel and the amount of Hypo symptoms I have I tend to agree with the others. So we can leave it that we agree to disagree. My question was if anyone on Thyroid -s suffered headaches when starting their protocol

You might do better to delete this post and re-post it. I won't respond.

Every where I read you should go slow with upping the dose. I didn’t want my hair to fall out.do you think I’m safe increasing so quickly?

Also my Dr won’t prescribe the T3 they don’t think it’s safe, hence doing it myself with the Thyroid -s

CPav,

A 30mg dose increase after 3 weeks is slow.

How many grains is it that you are taking per day. I also take thyroid s but have never experienced a headache.

When I started on thyroid s over two years ago I started with just 1grain and gently increased every 10 days by a half. Your FT3 was too low on your posted results.

Not what you're looking for?
