Is it my adrenals?

I haven't been able to cope with stress very well for a while now but at the moment it's ridiculous and the slightest little thing brings tears to my eyes! I've done a couple of online quizzes but didn't score that highly so I'm a bit stumped.

Any ideas anyone? I really need to sort this ASAP!

I know what you mean-any problems are normally Thyroid related!

infomaniac,

If you are optimally dosed re thyroid and suspect you have adrenal issues order a cortisol saliva test to check.

If you have been experiencing a little more stress than usual, then cortisol/adrenaline - that whole axis thing ;-) - may well be out of whack for a little while. However, many of us have adrenal issues re thyroid.

As Clutter says, a saliva test would be worth checking but, if you have been having any additional stress (stress that would impact anyone negatively), then maybe when it settles down... ? Take care :-) xox

I have been having going through a bit of an upheaval but tbh it started before that. I'm OK most of the time but ridiculous little things get to me and like I say, I fill up. I've been doing a bit of reading and think my magnesium may be too low, also I think too much strong coffee in the morning isn't doing me any favours so I'll see if sorting those two things might make a difference :-)

Right - I do think those feelings can come in waves - fine for months, then a wee bit sensitive. Yes, magnesium is good - choose one that's beneficial for your needs. I'll send a message re magnesium choices (it's pictorial or I'd post here) - I'd been taking something likely not too helpful for years!! :-)

Coffee - I don't have mine at all strong but have become, over the past few years, strangely addicted to it ;-) Best of! xox

I don’t know if this is helpful to you or not, But I quit coffee completely had been drinking it every single day since I was a teenager it was hard at first but I got used to it with in a couple weeks I would say I also started taking Ashwagandha and it helped with in a matter of just a few days. anyone who knows me would tell you that I was probably the most nervous easily stressed out person they had ever met so I still cannot believe how much taking this adaptogenic herb has changed my tendency to be overly anxious.

That being said you would want to get a good reputable company, because it has been said that some of them have heavy metals in their products.

I also have some holy basil which is said to help as well but I personally find the Ashwagandha to be a better choice. I take it once a day before dinner and occasionally alternate with holy basil instead for a while.

Unfortunately I've tried Ashwagandha and it didn't suit me at all. My temperature went even lower than normal (!) and I just didn't feel right. I'm going to give Magnesium a go and will keep the Holy Basil on the back burner just in case ;-)

oh i see... sorry to hear that. yes i also take magnesium every night around 9:30 pm or so. been using magnesium citrate, but when it runs out i might try a different kind (like glycenate maybe)

good luck

PS I have heard that if you have adrenal issues stopping all caffeine intake for at least a month to three months can be very helpful. sorry not clear on whether you said you drink caffeine or not. vitamin c also is good for adrenals. i recently ran out, and must try to get more as soon as i can afford to. being healthy is expensive!

Being healthy, or at least trying to, certainly is expensive!! Most of us must rattle when we walk and we're still not 100% :-(

Yes I drink caffeine but only in the mornings or I'd sleep even less than I do now! I'm going to switch to decaff and see how that goes.

Thanks for you help x

Saliva testing is the best method, but there's also urine testing. I couldn't get enough spit for saliva testing.
