Blood test help

I have been taking more thyroxine than prescribed since end of nov after a result came in at 3.20 for TSH . I have just come from doctor appointment and he has booked me in for blood tests in two weeks. He is listening to what I’m saying and I am appreciative of that as it’s been a few years and doctors since one did. However he is saying I only need TSH and T4 tested. From looking at posts here it seems there should be more. Am I right or do I have to get them done privately . Thanks in advance for any reply’s and or links

You are right. FT3 is the active hormone that every cell needs .But the NHS ignores this ,even if he does ask the lab may refuse. Also useful to know ferritin,folate,D3,B12 and antibodies. It is why so many use private testing.

DeeD123,

FT3 is rarely tested in primary care these days and some practices no longer test FT4! If you want FT3 tested you can order private tests via thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin... Medichecks offer #ThyroidThursday discounts.

Thank you Clutter. I had a feeling that would be the case. Better start saving😄
