Hi from Oxford.

Just found this site today. Been suffering with under active thyroid for years but also have Fibromyalgia. TSH just skyrocketed to 16 despite being on 150mg levothyroxine. Any advice?

Also, is there a support group or meet up anywhere near Oxford?

When I have the energy (joke there) there's obviously a lot of reading for me to do.

Thanks Willowrose

Hi and Welcome ! You need to obtain your latest blood test results with ranges and post here - in a new post if it takes some days as they will be lost further down the thread !

Do you have Hashimotos ? What other meds are you taking ? I was once diagnosed with fibro but once my thyroid was adequately and corrected treated I was fine.\

Do you know your levels of B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD ? They all need to be OPTIMAL for your thyroid meds to work well in the body.

Have not overwhelmed you with too much info initially - take it a step at a time - so obtain the results and let us all see what is going on :-)

Have you had change in brand of Levothyroxine?

As Marz says essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Plus do you have high thyroid antibodies, this is Hashimoto's

For full evaluation you ideally need TSH, FT4, FT3, TT4, TPO and TG antibodies, plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested

See if you can get full thyroid and vitamin testing from GP. Unlikely to get FT3

Private tests are available

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results

You will see low vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 listed
